What Are Heroes?

A 7th Party Member

Heroes can be customized like other party members

Heroes are character that can join your party during the story, eventually becoming a recruitable member to your party if the proper conitions are met. Although you cannot swithc out a Hero with one of your Main characters, they instead join your party as a 7th member, providing more combat options on the battlefield.

You Cannot Control Heroes

The Hero that you currently have recruited will join your party whenever you enter a battle, regardless of the enemy type. Although they can participate in Chain Attacks, and you can change what Arts they use in battle, you cannot control heroes at any time during the battle. You can also not switch to them when exploring the overworld.

Complete Hero Quests to Recruit Heroes

Complete a Hero Quest to Unlock A Hero
While Heroes will join your party at certain points, it is not until you complete their Hero Quest that they will become recruitable. Make sure to complete Hero Quests as soon as you can, as you cannot use a unrecruited Hero in battle until you do so.

Recruit Heroes to Unlock Hero Classes

Hero Classes are Unlocked when Heroes are recruited

A Hero as well as that hero's Class become available ot use once you recruit them. These classes are very unique and provide your characters with new Arts and Abilities, so make sure to experiment with these classes when you get the chance.
