Bonus EXP is a feature that allows you to level up your characters at Rest Spots in Xenoblade Chronicles 3. Read on to learn more about Bonus EXP including how to get it and how to spend it.
Skirmishes are one source of Bonus EXP. In order to get this reward type, pick the side that rewards Bonus EXP & Gold. However, do note that sometimes, it would be more valuable to take other rewards over EXP such as when you are offered Nopon Coins.
Once you reach Colony 4 during the events of Chapter 3, you will unlock the in-game Investigation feature. This will allow you to focus on certain conversations happening inside liberated colonies by pressing ZR. Listening to conversations will unlock Topics that you can discuss at any Rest Spot in the game.
While discussions are usually for unlocking Side Quests, some Topics will simply reward Bonus EXP. Make sure to periodically check and discuss gathered information whenever you stop at Rest Spots.
Discovering new locations and landmarks will reward you with Bonus EXP. Special locations will also give SP on top of what it rewards in EXP. Make sure to explore the different regions of Aionios in order to rack up Bonus EXP to use at a Rest Spot.
Bonus EXP is used in Outdoor Rest Spots or Colony Barracks to level up your characters outside of combat. Make sure to periodically check on the amount of Bonus EXP you have saved up in order to cash in the levels when they're most needed.
