Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Story Synopsis

Keves and Agnus: Two Nations at War

Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Nations at War

The game takes place in the world of Aionos in the middle of a heated war between two nations who call this place home, Keves and Agnus. The driving force of their war is each nation's flame clock, which needs to be filled to fulfill some sort of purpose, which has not yet been revealed.

Both nations have experienced countless casualties due to this war. Soldiers of Aionios only have a lifespan of no more than 10 years, and any soldier who survives their 10-year service is also sent off into the beyond in an honorable ceremony in front of their queen.

Off-seers are soldiers who play music as the souls of comrades evaporate away. Both of our main protagonists in the game have taken on this duty in their respective nations, which may impact their roles in the story.

Six Soldiers from Opposing Sides Meet

Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Opposing Sides Meet

Six soldiers of Aionios, three from each of the two opposing nations were called upon by a mysterious figure, whom we now know as Guernica Vandham, to take on a special mission for the good of the entire world.

Among our cast of main characters is Noah, one of our two main protagonists of the game, along with his friends Lanz and Eunie, all from Keves. On the Agnus side are Mio, the other main protagonist, and her friends, Taion and Sena.

At first, the two sides draw their weapons to fight, but when they realize that the fate of the entire world rests on them, they resolve their differences and work together. Guernica Vandham tells them that they need to head to Sword March to have a chance at winning the battle against the true enemy.

Explore the World and Gain Allies

Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Gaining Allies

After allying together, all six soldiers are now fugitives of both nations, and they must now journey to learn the truth of Aionios and defeat the real enemy of both nations. Along their journey, they will encounter several challenges that they must overcome and meet a few allies along the way that will aid them on their adventure.

Among these allies are a few brave residents of Aionios who call themselves hereos. These heroes include Riku and Manana, Nopons who are with you from the start of your journey. Riku is your resident mechanic while Manana is the chef of the team and prepares your food.

You can visit the many colonies and Rest Spots around the world to gather supplies and regroup. While visiting these areas, you can meet and talk to the different residents of Aionios and help them out with smaller tasks and side quests in between surviving and saving the world.

The Consul: A Mysterious Organization

Xenoblade Chronicles 3 The Consul

On their journey, our main characters also learn of a mysterious organization whose members always wear masks. They call themselves the Consul and they exert control over both nations.

The two nations of Aionios are believed to be sworn enemies, but if they are controlled by the same organization, this means that there is more to this conflict than meets the eye. However, their true purpose and role in the story are still unknown.

Could they be the true enemy that Guernica Vandham warned our characters about?

Connects the Stories of Xenoblade 1 and 2

Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Sequel to Xenoblade 2

Before the end of the story, we'll find out how this all ties into the stories of Xenoblade Chronicles 1 and 2. Since this game is a direct sequel to both of those previous titles, this game acts as the bridge that connects all three games.

Is Xenoblade Chronicles 3 a Sequel?

How It All Ends

Xenoblade Chronicles 3 How It Ends

Though there has not been any information released on how the story ends, we can expect that if the game decides to go with a hopeful ending, we'll see our main characters defeat the evil that plagues Aionios, which may or may not be the mysterious organization known as the Consul.

After they defeat the evil, the two nations can finally live in peace and no more soldiers need to die for the sake of the flame clock. Our heroes could now help the two nations rebuild and maybe unite together into one faction.
