XC3 - New Game Plus Guide

New Game Plus allows you to start Xenoblade Chronicles 3 from the beginning while keeping most of your character progress, but what exactly carries over? Learn how to unlock New Game Plus and what you need to know about this feature with our guide!

How to Unlock New Game Plus

Complete the Main Story

XC3 - story ending

As a Post-Game content, New Game Plus (or NG+) is unlocked by completing all seven chapters of Xenoblade Chronicles 3's main story. You will be sent back to the main menu screen after the ending cutscenes where an additional option for "New Game+" is added.

Choose New Game+ from the Main Menu

Selecting the New Game+ option will pull up tips about this feature, as well as what carries over and what doesn't carry over to your new journey. After reading and closing the tips, you can then select a cleared save file that you want to use for NG+.

Make sure that you choose the right save file as it will be where the loadout for your NG+ run will come from.

New Game Plus Overview

New Game Plus allows you to start from the beginning of the story with most of your character progress and inventory from your previous playthrough still intact. This allows you to do the quests over again in a faster pace or make challenges in higher difficulties a bit easier.

What Carries Over to New Game Plus?

Most of your character progress, including character levels and class ranks, will carry over to New Game Plus. Gold and Silver Nopon Coins will also remain in your inventory upon starting your next playthrough.

What Doesn't Carry Over to New Game Plus?

Most of the items that don't carry over are tied to quests and story progression. Abilities like Chain Attacks and Interlinks are disabled at the beginning and must be unlocked through story progression first before you can use them again.

Additional New Game Plus Notes

Tutorial is disabled

Tips that pop up on screen whenever a new feature is unlocked will no longer appear in New Game Plus, but you can still view them from System > Tips. Tutorials that guides you step-by-step on unlocked features (like equipping Accessories and crafting Gems) will also be skipped.

Unique Monsters are revived

XC3 - revived Unique Monsters

Unique Monsters that you have defeated will all be revived in New Game Plus and their graves will be cleared on the map, although Skills and Arts obtained through Soulhacking in your previous playthrough will be carried over and can be used even without defeating the associated Unique Monsters.
