Dying occurs in Xenoblade Chronicles 3 when the entire party or the leader runs out of HP. Read on to learn what happens if you die and know if there are penalties for dying in-game!

If your party leader gets killed out of combat, you'll be sent to the nearest landmark or rest spots you've visited. If you're worried about penalties, then you'll be glad to hear that you won't get any from dying. You'll be able to keep any items or experience points you gained before death.

If one of your party members gets incapacitated during combat, healers in your party can approach them and help them get back on their feet. However, this action is only available for healer classes, so protect them at all costs or risk wiping your party.

Falling off a steep cliff from a high enough distance can get you killed in this game. Try not to be impatient and find a way to get down if you're unsure you'll be able to take the fall damage. If you fall out in an area with no ground, like the ones at the edge of the map, this will result in an immediate death without damage.

Death occurs if everyone in the party gets incapacitated during combat. This can be prevented by having active healers in your party to help downed members.

During exploration, or if you're running away from a battle with your weapon sheathed, getting your party leader killed will result in everyone dying regardless if you have remaining party members. It's a good idea to let your tank distract your enemies first before running away to avoid dying.

Always prioritize keeping your healers safe, as losing them will inevitably kill the rest of your party. Besides healing, they are the only type of classes that can revive fallen members in combat.

Always check the level of your enemies before engaging in combat, as you might encounter one with a higher level than yours. Completing side quests, grinding enemies, or using bonus EXP to increase your level will help you level up and succeed in a fight.

Avoid attacking enemies in groups and instead lure one out and pick them off gradually. You can lure over a single enemy from a group by pressing the up button on your controller.

If you're having difficulty dealing with enemies at your current level, you can always lower your difficulty. Changing your difficulty does not penalize the player, and you're free to adjust it at any time in your playthrough.
