List of Vehicles and How to Unlock

Xenoblade Chronicles 3 List of Vehicles

Traveling through the water Aionios becomes easier with the ships available in Xenoblade Chronicles 3. Continue reading to learn about what vehicles are available, their controls, and how to unlock them.

What Vehicles are Available?

Two Ships for Traveling Through the Cadensia Region

Boundary Bravery
Boundary Bravery

During Chapter 5, you will be able to use the ships the Boundary and the Bravery to travel through the water areas found in the Cadensia Region. Although you can still swim throughout this region, traveling by ship is much faster and safer, so we recommend using this method when you can.

How to Unlock the Ships

Complete the Quest: Castle Access to Unlock the Boundary

Xenoblade Chronicles 3 - How to Unlock the Ship

The ship will only become available after you finish Chapter 4 and reach Swordmarch. Once there, you will have to progress Chapter 5 until you acquire the Castle Access Standard Quest. Complete it to gain access to the ship.

Chapter 5 Walkthrough

Complete the Quest: The Ultimate Vessel to Unlock the Bravery

XC3 - piloting the Bravery

You can use the Bravery after clearing the Standard Quest The Ultimate Vessel, which comes available in Chapter 7. You can toggle the Bravery's speed boost by pushing the L stick, making it much easier to roam the seas.

Use zR or B to Move the Ship

Xenoblade Chronicles 3 - How to Move the Ship

Press and hold zR to accelerate the ship forward and B to reverse it. To steer and turn, use the Left Analog Stick while holding down either zR or B.

Note: While you can toggle the Bravery's speed with the L stick, the Boundary always moves at the same top speed, whether accelerating or reversing. Keep this in mind as the extra speed makes it difficult to make tight turns.

Use Autopilot to Accelerate Forward Without Input

Xenoblade Chronicles 3 - Autopilot On

When faced with long stretches of sea, you can opt to simply hit zR plus the Up D-Pad button to engage autopilot. This mode automatically accelerates the ship forward without you having to hold down zR.

Note: A symbol of a running man will appear at the bottom right side of your screen if the autopilot is on. To turn autopilot off, press B.

Ship Exploration Tips

Respawn the Ship by Returning to Sentridge Harbor

Xenoblade Chronicles 3 - Sntridge Harbor

Some missions will take you deeper inland than you'd originally planned. If you find that walking back to the ship would take too long, you can fast travel back to Sentridge Harbor (where you got the ship) and it should spawn back there for you to use immediately.

Pay Attention to the Map to Locate Your Ship

Xenoblade Chronicles 3 - Ship Map Icon

For those who've simply lost their ship, do note that it has its own special icon when you open the world map. Look for where you last parked it by opening the area map using zL (Hold) and pressing X.

Use the Move to Cabin Option for a Quick Rest Spot

Xenoblade Chronicles 3 - Cabin Rest Spot

While most of the Rest Spots in the Cadensia Region are land-locked, you do have the option to access a Rest Spot while sailing. To do this, hold down zL and press the Down D-Pad button to enter the ship's cabin.

After the small area loads, you will find yourself inside and able to do all the things you normally do at an outdoor Rest Spot including eating, gem crafting, discussing, or leveling up.

Board the Ship by Standing Still and Holding A

Xenoblade Chronicles 3 - Board Using A

If you're making a quick getaway from battle or simply wanting to board the ship as soon as possible, pay attention to the flashing A button, on-screen. Once it appears, it means you can stop moving and hold A to board the ship immediately.
