Palworld - Fire Icon Palworld - Ground Icon Palworld - Ice Icon Palworld - Grass Icon Palworld - Electric Icon Palworld - Ice Icon Palworld - Grass Icon

Jormuntide Ignis and Reptyro are late game Pals with desirable dual-typings of Fire-Ground and Fire-Dragon for combat, since their attacks are super effective to at most three (3) elements and they are resistant to at most two (2) elements.

Fire is a highly desired type due to the fact that it is super effective to two (2) elements (Grass and Ice), compared to all other elements which are only super effective to one (1). Its weakness to Water can be compensated by switching out to an Electric Pal.

Fire-Electric Pals for Potential PVP

Type
(Theoretical)
Super Effective Resistant
Palworld - Fire Icon Palworld - Electric Icon Palworld - Water Icon Palworld - Grass Icon Palworld - Ice Icon Palworld - Ground Icon Palworld - Water Icon Palworld - Ground Icon

Strategy for PvP as of this moment is speculative.

As of the moment, there are no known Fire-Electric Pals in the game, but having this Dual-Type can mean cancelling out its weakness to Water attacks and punishing them with Electric skills.

It is likely that Water Types will be in a high demand for PvP to counter the abundance of strong Fire Type Pals in the game.

Some good early game Dual-Types that can be obtained are Chillet (Lv. 11 as an Alpha Pal, east of the Rayne Syndicate Tower) and Dinossom (can spawn around Lv. 15± near Plateau of Beginnings) for their potential Dragon skills against Dark Types.

Palworld - Grass Icon Palworld - Dragon Icon Palworld - Dark Icon Palworld - Ground Icon Palworld - Dark Icon Palworld - Ground Icon

Early game dark types like Daedream or the often hostile Depresso, which are abundant at night and in dungeons, can be quickly taken care of when needed.

Chillet will offer the most utility with Ice when fighting against Dragon types, and Dinossom with Grass when fighting common Ground types and its stronger Pals Digtoise and Anubis later in the game.

Vanwyrm is only around Lv. 10± and can be found early in the Bamboo Groves, which is west of Ravine Entrance Eagle Nest Statue. This can be reached by trekking directly west from the Desolate Church.

Fire Dark Strengths and Resistance

Type Super Effective Resistant
Palworld - Fire Icon Palworld - Dark Icon Palworld - Ice Icon Palworld - Grass Icon Palworld - Neutral Icon Palworld - Ice Icon Palworld - Grass Icon

While con is that it will take a while to travel and obtain this Pal, it does offer advantage against Neutral Pals with its Dark skill potential on top of being a Fire Pal.

Neutral type Pals are common during the day, and this Dual-Type combination can prove to be of assistance when fighting Neutral-type Alpha Pals on field like Grintale and Kingpaca.

How Dual Type Combos Work

Amplifies Strengths and Weakness Multiplier

Palworld - Chillet Ice Dragon Type

Having Dual-Types can offer several advantages, mostly involving combat:

  • More types means more resistance and options to inflict super effective attacks on more than one element type of Pal
  • Offers more combat utility in exploration when encountering Pals of different elements
  • They naturally learn skills under their second type, so Skill Fruits can be allocated elsewhere

Quadruple (4x) Damage and Quarter (0.25x) Damage

Type 1 Type 2 Damage Output
Strong Strong 4x
Strong Weak 1x
Weak Weak 0.25x

Due to the way dual-typing works, it can further increase, further decrease, or negate the changes depending on how its elements interact with the opposing Pal.

If both elements are strong, then it can deal 4x as much damage in offensive play.

On the other hand, it can deal 0.25x reduced damage if both elements are weak against the enemy.

Types Determine Strengths and Weaknesses

Palworld - Element Match Up Chart

The damage dealt by a Pal's skills can depend on its elemental effectiveness against opposing Pal. It is possible for your Pal do deal twice as much damage, only half as much, or just the regular amount of damage against another Pal.

Conversely, your Pals can also receive double, half, or regular amount of damage against enemy Pal attacks.
