All Humans can be caught in Palworld, but they're much harder to catch than most pals. Learn how to catch, sell, and even sacrifice humans, if you should catch humans, and how to recruit them to your party and base!
List of Contents
Catching the Village Chief of the Small Settlement.
Whether friendly or hostile, all humans can be caught by lowering their HP and throwing a Pal Sphere, just like Pals. However, their catch rates are much lower than Pals of the same level, and they are generally much less useful than Pals.
To improve your odds of catching a Human, try using a Mega Sphere, or if you haven't unlocked those yet, try inflicting a status effect with Fire Arrows or Poison Arrows, and get their health almost to zero before throwing Pal Spheres. You can also leave the area after lowering their health and come back, then aim for the backstrike bonus when they're no longer aggroed.
Once you've caught a Human, congratulations! They're ready to work in either your party or your base, or you can leave them behind in your Palbox like any other unloved Pal.
Tips for Catching Pals (Or Humans) Easily
If you want to catch a Human, the easiest type to try to catch are Syndicate Thugs. They are generally low-level, and you won't have any risk of becoming Wanted by engaging in battle with them.
Syndicate Thugs are quite common, but some easy places to find them are the Hillside Cave next to the Rayne Syndicate Tower Entrance Fast Travel Point, as well as the path directly north from the Rayne Syndicate Tower.
The Wandering Merchant and Pal Merchant can be found in the Small Settlement.
So far, the only known Humans which provide a gameplay advantage are the Merchants. If you're able to catch the Wandering Merchant or the Pal Merchant found in the Small Settlement, you can place them in your Base and they'll be available to trade with you at any time. This can be convenient when you have extra Items or Pals to sell, or want to pick up a particular Item or Pal quickly.
Note that the Merchants are at Level 30 and are even harder to catch than most Level 30 Pals, so don't even think about trying this early in your playthrough!
Nevermind a human rights standpoint; even from a gameplay standpoint, Humans are not worth it as they pale in comparison to Pals.
In battle, Humans will jump wildly at enemies, hardly managing to land a hit. When sent to work in a base, they're only able to do Handiwork at Lv 1, which means they are usable, but there's no reason to use them even over basic Pals like Lamball.
They also don't have any Partner Skill, so there's no significant aspect to make them stand out in the party or at the base.
Humans don't appear in the Paldeck of 113 Pals, so there's no requirement to catch Humans in order to achieve 100% completion. Fortunately, even completionists can choose to safely eschew this mechanic if they don't feel comfortable catching Humans.
For better or for worse, you cannot breed Humans in Palworld. Human NPCs will not have a Gender, meaning that they are incapable of breeding with Humans or Pals. Honestly, although Palworld can sometimes go a bit far in pushing boundaries, we're glad they decided to draw the line here.
That said, if you're starting to feel awkward about this whole feature, you should probably stop before you read the next few paragraphs.
Amazingly, human trafficking is possible in Palworld. The Pal Merchant in Small Settlement will buy Humans for a fairly cheap price.
There doesn't seem to be any way to buy Humans from NPCs, but honestly, we wouldn't put it past them at this point.
By placing a Human in your Party and navigating to the Party menu, then pressing R (On PC) to Drop Pal, you can place them in a Pal Sphere as a dropped item which any other player in the same world can pick up. When playing in Multiplayer, you can use this to trade Humans in exchange for Pals, Items, money, or whatever you can imagine.
The Pal Distiller is a Base Structure where the player can sacrifice multiples of a single Pal species to make one single Pal of that species stronger. This feature works with Humans as well, so it might be technically possible to make a super-strong Human, but at an unspeakable price.
Butchering is (barely) censored.
You can use the Meat Cleaver item to permanently kill Pals, and even Humans, and obtain their Drop Items. Mercifully, the Items you'll receive seem to be the items they were carrying, such as Bread or Ammo, instead of something along the lines of Human Meat or Dismembered Head. At least you won't have that one on your conscience, right?
