Raids are random events in Palworld that has human enemies or aggressive Pals invading and attacking your base. Read on to learn more about what raids are, how to defeat invading enemies, the rewards you can get for successfully repelling raids, and useful glitches to protect your base from raids!
List of Contents
In Palworld, Raids are inevitable once you have built a base. They tend to happen more frequently while you are present at a base compared to when you are out exploring.
Each raid's strength depends on your base level (the higher the base level, the stronger the enemies). You will have to defend your base from groups of enemies with red exclamation points above them (either wild Pals, humans, or both).
Raids start via an on-screen raid warning. Raiders will spawn from a distance and begin approaching your base. Use this time to prepare your Pals for combat. Raids will end when all raiders have been defeated or enough time has passed to cause them to withdraw.
Possible Raid Triggers |
---|
• Can trigger when a player is present at a base.
ⓘ Player presence observed to be the most common cause, but it is also possible to happen while exploring far from the base. • Base locations ⓘ The beginner area, Plateau of New Beginnings, is known to be often targeted by raids. • May trigger when a player enters a dungeon (observed in multiplayer.) ⓘ In some cases, raids may only occur extremely rarely. Disabling then enabling raids in the World Settings may fix this. |
Possible Raid Behavior |
• Raids target only one base at a time.
ⓘ May regularly target the same base over time even with multiple bases (factors yet to be known). • May not occur depending whether the base is normally reachable (for example, located in a hard-to-reach places.) • Stronger raiders can appear depending on your base level (Pal Box level). |
Above are factors are subject to change as the game is updated.
Raids are random and it has been observed that raids tend to occur when a character is present at a base, but it can also happen while you are out exploring, in addition to other factors.
The success of raids appearing could also be connected to whether a proper path can be found to a base or if the raiders have a proper place to spawn in. Some places are harder to reach, preventing any raiders from spawning.

Above locations are subject to update when more are found.
Some locations are known to be safe if not immune to raid activity. Two of the above are located on tall areas best accessed via flying mounts.
Raids will not likely trigger at these locations. But if they do, they will be unable to reach them due to steep terrain. Do note the availability of the resources for these locations as one of them have no natural sources (thus requiring you build artifical sources (like a Stone Pit).
In the World Settings menu, you can choose to toggle Raids on or off. Remember that deactivating raids will prevent you from getting loot from raiders.
Feel free to deactivate raids if they become a massive inconvenience. Turn them on once you want to take on the challenge.
The Alarm Bells, when interacted with, sound and notify your Pals that a raid is coming. They are used to shift Pal behaviour from focusing on work to targetting base raiders.
Craft an Alarm Bell by unlocking it first in the Technology menu with 1 Technology Point.
How to Get Ancient Technology Points Fast
During a raid, the enemies can target both you, your Pals, and your base structures. One technique in dealing with them is to swap out your weaker worker Pals with the stronger Pals you have either in your party or your Pal Box.
It is best to remember that low level base Pals risk a quick defeat. Make sure to plan ahead of time which Pals will be the best in base defense.
Best Pals for Combat Tier List
Defending your base is not all about letting your Pals do the work. You have weapons and armor for some powerful home defense.
Consider searching for Schematics to craft better versions of these equipment, especially guns since they can pack a punch!
How to Get All Legendary Weapons and Armor Schematics
Level | Technology | Points | Description |
---|---|---|---|
4 | Alarm Bell | 1 | Bell that sets the alert status for Pals on base. Change Pal behavior to either attack invading enemies or focus entirely on work whenever you like. |

50 | Mounted Missile Launcher | 3 | Assign a Pal with Handiwork suitability and it will protect a base using the missile launcher. |
Constructing defensive traps, such as the Sandbag, Hanging Trap, and Bear Trap, will helpful against enemy raids.
You can find the option to build these traps on the Technology menu, each trap corresponding to its specific cost in Technology Points.
Base Structure |
---|
Stone Structure Set |
Fire Pals may be part of the raiding party, making it possible for any wooden structures to be caught on fire with their fire attacks. Your Water Pals may be able to extinguish the fire, but consider burning structures a lost cause when fire has spread too far.
The best way to prevent spreading fire in your base is to ensure you have built fire-proof structures that are not wood (such as Stone).
In single player, if you wish to skip a base raid while raids are enabled in the World Settings, you can choose to exit to the main menu. This will unload your world and cause the raiders to despawn (but you will get no rewards.)
The raid status will be gone once you log back in. Choose this option if you simply wish to avoid raids at an unconvenient time.
Chest Keys | ||
---|---|---|
Copper Key | Silver Key | Gold Key |
Keys may drop from enemies defeated during a raid. You can use it to open Chests with a reddish glow and gain valuable items and Schematics.
Chances of getting rarer keys from raiders are higher the stronger they are, which means having a higher base level.
The rarity of its items and chests requiring a higher-tier key increases as you venture into higher level areas such as the Desert or Snow areas.
Pal Souls | ||
---|---|---|
Small Pal Soul | Medium Pal Soul | Large Pal Soul |
It is possible for both Pal and human raiders to drop Pal Souls upon defeat or capture. These are used for enhancing Pals at a Statue of Power and can help in improving Pals alongside breeding.
Make sure you have decided which Pal you want to enhance stats for, since stat resets cost a lot of Gold Coins depending on the number of points invested.
You can attempt to catch an enemy Pal (or humans if you wish) by sufficiently weakening it during a raid. Some Pals prove to be useful at work (Lovander), but others can also serve to be formidable in combat (Incineram).
Capturing these Pals can be good idea given their benefits and higher level.
The rewards for defeating or capturing a raider is similar to any other loot drop in the overworld. The same goes with EXP.
Some of these reward drops are substantial, such as Gold Coins, Pal Spheres or Pal Souls. Focus on defeating every enemy during a raid to grab some extra loot or gain more EXP for levelling up.
Enemies will try their best to damage your base, structures, and base Pals during a raid. That does not mean that their ultimate goal is to destroy everything.
They will not completely destroy your base, and enemies will withdraw after a certain period if you fail to defeat them or enough time has passed.
It is best to remember, however, that this doesn't ensure the well-being of your base Pals after the raid, as they may face the risk of being defeated during the battle.
You can make your base unraidable via a glitch by surrounding your base with partially built Viewing Cages, these structures will serve as an invisible barrier rendering raiders unable to enter your base.
When being raided by higher level enemies. An excellent last resort would be to withdraw all your Base Pals via the Palbox and leave your base.
You do not have to worry about your buildings and structures as this glitch will render the enemies to not do anything once there are no Pals to fight with and you to fight them. Eventually, they will retreat.
