Each Legendary Schematic can be acquired from a specific, corresponding Alpha Boss. However, these schematics have a very low drop rate estimated at around 2.5% based on our testing, and may require an average of 40 attempts to get a single Legendary Schematic to drop.
All new Legendary schematics added in the Sakurajima update can be obtained from gold treasure chests found at the Oil Rig.
When you catch an Alpha Boss, it will have a chance to yield drops in the same way as when it is killed. In the same way, you can use the Meat Cleaver, equip it, and select Butcher from the radial menu to permanently kill the caught Alpha Pal and cause it to yield drops again, including Legendary Schematics. This gives you double the odds of getting Legendary Schematics for each Alpha Boss you encounter – it's not pretty, but it works.
You can also get Legendary Schematics from chests of any type whether common, copper, silver, or gold. So be sure to open any chest you encounter in the game.

Dungeon chests are a great way to farm for Schematics since they can drop multiple schematic tiers, allowing you to upgrade your equipment while hunting for Legendary Schematic drops.
Do note that only the chests found after defeating the dungeon's boss will have a chance of dropping schematics, and the other chests within the dungeon have the same loot as chests found in the overworld.

Similar to chests found after defeating a dungeon boss, chests found at these locations drop different loot from standard chests when opened, and sometimes there's a chance they will drop a random legendary schematic.
All Chest Locations and Best Farming Routes
If you're finding it hard to acquire the legendary schematics, you can adjust your world settings in the game's main menu. The following settings can help to quickly spawn Alpha Bosses which drop Legendary Schematics, and increase their chances of dropping them.
The Dropped Items Multipler setting will increase the number of drops, but not the rate, so setting this value to 3x will just allow you to find 3 of the same Legendary Schematic at once and won't help in this case.
You can sometimes find schematics from chests scattered across the map, with chests located in low-level areas granting Uncommon schematics.
You may randomly find Copper Key Chests nearby in early game, like one in Grassy Behemoth Hills.
Sometimes you may obtain Schematics from Copper Key Chests, which may be frequent in higher-level areas but can also appear near early game. In exchange, these chests yield high-quality schematics as rewards.
To open these chests, you'll need Copper Keys. These keys are obtained as rewards for successful raids and can also be acquired by defeating enemy pals in the wilderness.
After successfully finishing a raid and defending your base, defeating high-level human enemies often results in them dropping schematics as loot.
Defeating the boss of a dungeon and reaching the end will reward you with two treasure chests, and it's possible to get schematics by looting them!
You can buy Schematics from the Wandering Merchant for 500 Gold Each. The Wandering Merchant sells 8 Schematics in total.

The Wandering Merchant appears at settlements as seen above in the map. There are many settlements located throughout the game.
If the Wandering Merchant is not present in a settlement location, it indicates that he is currently on the move and will likely pass by your base.
You can also find legendary schematics added in the Sakurajima update at the Oil Rig, which feature high-level enemies and Pals. Do note that the drop rate for the schematics are low, so you may have to visit the area multiple times.
Oil Rig Location and How to Beat
Palworld stands out by requiring players to actively find schematics. This element deviates from other games in which you buy recipes directly.
Find the necessary schematics via chests or by purchasing them from the Wandering Merchant. You have to go to a workbench to reveal the necessary materials required to craft the item.
Once you've identified the necessary materials for crafting the items, you may need to search for them to complete the construction process.
However, if you have all the materials ready, you can craft it immediately.
List of All Materials, Consumables and Drops
After gathering all the required materials, you may utilize the workbench to craft the desired schematic item.
Generally, the default recipes unlocked via the menu only allow players to craft Technology at the Common rarity. Using Schematics is currently the only way to craft a version of an existing Technology at a higher rarity than normal.
Each Schematic has a number within its name ranging from 1 to 4, which matches with the Rarity of the Technology which can be crafted via the Schematic.
