Raw food such as meats and produce can be found all over the map of Palworld. They can be looted from plants, defeated or captured Pals, and even defeated enemies.
Level | Technology | Points | Description |

2 | Campfire | 1 | Used to make simple food or provide meager warmth and light. |
17 | Cooking Pot | 2 | Can efficiently prepare more varieties of foods. |
41 | Electric Kitchen | 3 | Needs electricity but can prepare high-quality food more efficiently. Requires Pal with Generating Electricity trait. |
To obtain cooked food, you will need a piece of technology that allows cooking, the recipes, and the ingredients.
Best Technology to Unlock First
The main purpose of cooking your raw ingredients is to postpone their expiration by giving the cooked product a new expiration timer.
You can time this when a food item is about a minute away from expiring to extend its use.
Hunger is signified by the orange bar usually located beneath the green HP bar.
Food is used in managing your character's Hunger bar, as well as your Pals'. A fully depleted hunger bar will cause you to lose HP to a minimum of one (1). Fortunately, you will not die from hunger.
Pals, however, will risk starving, and worse, become incapacitated should their Hunger bar fully deplete.
You can eat raw food in Palworld without any penalties. Cooking is just used to prolong the food's expiration.
Instead of manually selecting a food item each time you want your character to eat, you can utilize Feed Bags. Feed Bags unlock food slots in the character screen. They allow you to assign foods that will be consumed automatically when your character gets hungry.
Feed Bags are unlocked with Ancient Technology Points.
Level | Technology | Description |
---|---|---|
10 | Small Feed Bag | Unlocks a food slot in your inventory. Players and Pals automatically consumes food when hungry. |
20 | Average Feed Bag | A decently sized pouch for holding food. Unlocks 2 food slots in your inventory. Players and Pals automatically consumes food when hunger depletes. |
45 | Giant Feed Bag | An extraordinarily large sack for storing food. Unlocks 5 food slots in your inventory. Players and Pals automatically consume food when hungry. |
26 | Large Feed Bag | A large pouch for holding food. Unlocks 3 food slots in your inventory. Players and Pals automatically consume food when hungry. |
35 | Huge Feed Bag | An extremely large pouch for holding food. Unlocks 4 food slots in your inventory. Players and Pals automatically consume food when hungry. |
Level | Technology | Points | Description |
---|---|---|---|
4 | Feed Box | 2 | Place food, and Pals at the base will eat from it. |
To avoid feeding the Pals in your base manually, you can construct a Feed Box in your base and fill it with food items. Your pals will automatically consume food in the Feed Box whenever they get hungry.
Make sure to constantly check the Feed Box if it still has food, and resupply when necessary, especially if you're planning to explore areas far from your base.
When the timer for food items runs out, the quantity of the stack decreases by one. You don't have to worry about a whole stack of your Red Berries disappearing after expiring.
Level | Technology | Points | Description |
---|---|---|---|
13 | Cooler Box | 2 | Small food vault. Assign an Ice Pal to help prevent food stored inside from spoiling. |
38 | Refrigerator | 2 | Large food vault. Assign an Ice Pal to help prevent food stored inside from spoiling. |
The most straightforward way to ensure that your food never expires with minimal hands-on management would be to have either a Cooler Box or a Refrigerator at a base.
Having the food actively cooled will require a Pal with a Cooling Work Suitability to ensure that food preservation through these appliances is maintained.
Sorting your inventory refreshes all the expiration times for all the items in your inventory. This also works for food items in other containers such as chests.
You can also use the quick-move option to move food items from your inventory to a chest and vice versa as this also refreshes the time of expiration. Dragging food items to move them, however, does not refresh the time of expiration.
