The Moon Lord is a Special Raid Boss that cannot be captured and is only meant to be defeated.
As the final boss of Terraria, Moon Lord lives up to its name and can only be damaged in a unique way compared to previous Raid Bosses.
The Moon Lord has no elemental type, so the Raid Boss has no specific type advantages or weaknesses. Players can use any of their strongest Pals to beat it effectively.
Palworld Element Type Chart Matchups Explained
| Moon Lord Summoning Item |

Celestial Sigil
|
The Moon Lord can be summoned with the Celestial Sigil item. This item is crafted with the Celestial Sigil Schematic and can be placed in Summoning Altars.

Chests drop Celestial Sigil Schematics in the room past the Eye of Cthulhu in the Terraria Dungeon. Use these in workbenches to craft the Celestial Sigil.
| Celestial Sigil Crafting Materials |
|---|
Hallowed Bar
|
Hallowed Bars are required to craft the Celestial Sigil item. Save up 100 Hallowed Bars to summon the Moon Lord.

Summoning Altar
|
|
To initiate any Raid Boss battle, you must have the Summoning Altar in a base. It can be unlocked in the Technologies Tab once you reach Level 33.
Note that the Summoning Altar can only be used once, so have the materials ready in a chest nearby.

Xenolord is the best Pal to ride as it has skills that can target its eyes and heart, and you can use your weapons while riding it. Alternatively, you can ride any good Flying Pal that can tank and deal damage with you.
However, we do not recommend using Jetragon, as its skills cannot target its eyes on the hands.

As the Moon Lord does not have an Elemental Type, any Pal works well against the Raid Boss as long as they have good tankiness and damage.
However, we recommend taking Pals that have Ranged Skills as the only way to damage Moon Lord is through its eyes and heart.

The Hexolite Helmet and Lightweight Hexolite Armor are some of the best equipment items to use when fighting against the Moon Lord. They provide excellent tankiness that works well with the Ultra Shield.
The Triple Jump Boots can also be quite helpful as an accessory in the fight to avoid damage against Moon Lord's AoE attacks.

The best weapon to equip against the Moon Lord is the Plasma Cannon, as it can consistently deal significant damage against the eyes and its heart. Ensure to attack the eyes when open and aim for them directly.
Alternatively, we recommend using ranged weapons to deal with its unique eye mechanic. The Laser Gatling Gun and Advanced Bow can be consistent with their damage, whereas the Energy Shotgun can be used while mounted on a Flying Pal.
Best Player Builds (Main Character Builds)

To damage the Moon Lord, players must attack the eyes in its head and hands. These eyes will have separate health bars and can only be brought to 1 HP. Once all three are defeated, its heart will open, and you can damage it.

Once defeated, an eye will spawn as a True Eye of Cthulhu and attack you and your Pals. It cannot be damaged, so avoid its attacks while continuing to do damage against the Moon Lord.

You must attack the Moon Lord's Heart upon finishing all three eyes. You can fully deplete its HP through the heart, so defeat the Moon Lord by attacking this continuously.
The Moon Lord is exclusively a Terraria Crossover Raid Boss and cannot be captured as a Pal. You may only defeat it to drop rewards, like the Moon Lord Mask and Legendary Meowmere.
We recommend engaging with the Moon Lord in an empty base. The Moon Lord will have multiple AoE attacks, so all your built structures will take damage. Build the Summoning Altar in a base that doesn't have numerous structures.

Alternatively, building a Base specifically for Raids will be very useful so you don't destroy your or other people's Bases that took an investment in the building.
Find an area with structures you can hide behind to heal or reload your weapons, like the Desolate Churches.
Summoning Altars can only be used once, which makes it a chore, especially if you have a base dedicated to it. A trick you can do is build storage as close as possible to the Pal Box so you don't have to lug around so many materials!

After deciding where to put your base, you can then place structures like the Mounted Machine Guns and Missile Launchers so your weaker Pals can contribute without immediately succumbing to the Raid Boss' onslaught.

Another way to make the Raid easier is to join in on other people within your server. This raid is no easy feat, and having friends will make it easier.
