The table above shows every Pal with a Lumbering Work Suitability, along with its level. The Higher the level of the Work Suitability, the faster they are at completing tasks of that Work Suitability.
By using the Pal Essence Condenser, it's possible to upgrade all of a Pal's Work Suitabilities by one level. This is important because it's the only way to get a Pal with a Lv. 5 Work Suitability! As long as the Pal already has a Lv. 4 Work Suitability, it'll be upgraded to Lv. 5 once it's been ranked up to 4-Stars

Tanzee is the best early game Lumbering Pal because it's encountered at a low level close to the starting location and because it has the ever-useful combination of Planting, Gathering, and Transporting, with the most important being Transporting so that it can transport the Wood and Fibers that it harvests.

Lumbering is mainly used to harvest Wood at a Logging Site so that you can get a lot of it without needing to manually chop down trees or putting your base in the middle of a forest.
As for Fiber, you can simply feed Wood to a Crusher, and it will give you 2 Fiber for every piece of Wood. Just remember to have a Pal with Watering that can power the Crusher, otherwise, the machine won't work.
Lumbering will also make a Pal cut down any trees that spawn naturally within the base. This can be useful if you need a clean base with no obstructions and you don't want to put down base foundations to stop the trees from spawning.

The Stump and Axe is not a structure that requires Lumbering, but instead is a structure that passively boosts the work speed of any task that requires Lumbering.
This will heavily reduce the time it takes to chop trees, creating even more Wood than normal over a long period of time.
