Farming is a unique Work Suitability in that there is no 'best' Farming Pal. This is because each Pal drops specific resources, making the best Farming Pal whatever Pal that drops the resource you need.
Just make sure that you fix the Pal's assignment to the Ranch so that it doesn't go off doing other tasks.

To bake a Cake that is used to breed Pals, you will need Red Berries, Milk, Eggs, and Honey. These can be easily farmed by assigning these four Pals to a Ranch.
Over time, they will automatically produce these resources, meaning that you'll only need to make Flour to get all the ingredients needed to make a Cake.
