How to Unlock The Eternal Guardian

Deliver the Master

This quest is unlocked after you turn in the Master's Journal to the Curator at the Central Core. Progress the Source of Knowledge main quest to acquire and deliver the journal quest item to the Curator.

The Eternal Guardian Quest Walkthrough

Objective
1
Go to the Hidden Alcove
After turning in the Master's Journal, start making your way to the Hidden Alcove safe area found in the eastern section of the library.
2 Defeat the Undead attacking Insightful Sands and Resolute Smelter
Upon arrival, you will encounter the golems Insightful Sands and Resolute Smelter being attacked by the undead. Help them defeat 12 undead to progress the quest.
3 Speak to Insightful Sands
Once the undead are dealt with, speak to Insightful Sands to progress the quest.
4 Inspect the Golem
Follow them back to the safe area and examine the Golem's Remains for the pair. Report your findings to Insightful Sands to know the location of the Eternal Guardian.

Go to the Solo Story Dungeon of the Eternal Guardian
With the location secure, head over to the northeast end of the library. This will bring you to a solo Story Dungeon that contains the Eternal Guardian boss fight.
6 Defeat the Undead Guarding the Bridge
To find the guardian, you will first need to extend the bridge leading to its lair. Defeat the 7 undead enemies guarding the bridge to find the mechanisms that activate it.

Activate the Bridge Mechanisms
Interact with both Bridge Mechanisms to activate and extend the bridge. Once done, cross it to enter the Eternal Guardian's lair.
8 The Eternal Guardian
Upon reaching the lair, the Eternal Guardian will spawn in. Defeat it to progress the quest.

9 Take the Guardian
Collect the Guardian's Remains from the Eternal Guardan's corpse.
10 Attune the Portal Device
With the Eternal Guardian defeated, head over to the large gate behind where it spawned. Attune the Portal Device to exit the solo Story Dungeon. This step unlocks the next main quest, Reforging the Soul.
