Trading will be made available at some point within January 2025, likely near the end of the month. More information about trading has been announced on the official Pokemon TCG Pocket X account ahead of its release.
Pokemon TCG Pocket Trading Coming January, 2025!
You can trade with other players by visiting the Social Hub tab and tapping the Trade button. At the time of launch, it appears that trading can be done between friends.
It is currently unknown if you can trade with players that aren’t on your friends list once the trading feature is implemented, but it will likely be available at some point.
It is also possible that a Wonder Trade feature may be added—a feature in some of the other Pokemon games—where you can select a card you want to trade and get a random card in return.
According to the announcement, items will be consumed when trading. The items needed for trading have not yet been confirmed.
It could be Shinedust that is required to participate in trades or it may be the mysterious Advance Ticket that currently cannot be used. It could also just be a new form of currency that has not yet been added into the game.

In order to trade a card, you and your trade partner must select cards of the same rarity. That means if you want an ex card, you will have to trade another ex card in return. You cannot trade a common 1◇ card for any valuable card.

Once the trading feature is launched, the only cards that can be traded will be cards obtained from the Genetic Apex and Mythical Island expansions. That means that cards from the new expansion, also set to release in January 2025, may not be tradable.

Promo Cards such as those that can be purchased from the Shop or cards from Wonder Pick events and Drop events cannot be traded.
The list of tradable cards is expected to expand in future updates, so hope is not entirely lost for those who have missed out on limited-time event cards!

As the trading feature is new to the game, rare cards 2☆ and above will not be available for trade. However, the list of cards that can be traded is expected to expand in the future.
The best cards to trade in TCG Pocket are cards that may be hard to come by such as ex Cards, cards required for missions, and cards that can be useful in competitive decks.
It’s also a good idea use trading in order to find cards you don’t have yet, so that you can complete your Card Dex.
