Gold Coin is a currency used to buy materials and Pals from Merchants in Palworld. See how to set up a farm for Gold Coins, how to get more of them, and how to use them in this guide!
List of Contents
In the early game, it is already possible to start farming Gold Coins in Palworld. The main usage of Gold Coins is to exchange them for items or Pals from merchants.
Level Unlocked | Technology | Points | Material Requirements |
---|---|---|---|
5 | Ranch | 2 |
Fiber x30
Wood x50
Stone x20

The first step to creating an automatic Gold Coin farm in Palworld is to unlock the Technology called Ranch and then build one in your base. To unlock it, you have to be level 5 first!
If you already have a base and have a lot of Pals occupying it, we recommend building another one at a different location in order to maximize the amount of Gold Coins the farm can generate!

Mau | Mau Cryst |
Mau and its subspecies Mau Cryst have the Partner Skill called Gold Digger which allows them to dig up Gold Coins when assigned to a Ranch. So, you need to catch several of them for the Gold Coins farm to work.
Since the Mau Cryst can only be encountered at the Tundra Biome of Palapagos, the Mau is easier to capture during the early game of Palworld.
A reliable way to catch Maus is to teleport to the Fast Travel Point called Rayne Syndicate Tower Entrance and then enter the Hillside Cavern at the coordinates, (122, -423). Once inside, roam around to find and capture as many Maus as you want.
Do note that Dungeons like the Hillside Cavern will eventually disappear and respawn again after some time. So, capture as much Maus as possible when the Hillside Cavern is available!
Once you have several Maus, you can start farming Gold Coins by going back to your base and then fix assigning each one of your Maus to the Ranch. This can be done by lifting a Mau using the F Key on a keyboard and then throwing it to the Ranch using the same key!
After some time, the Maus will start dropping Gold Coins so you can either pick them up or have a Pal do it for you!
To increase the production of Gold Coins, you should assign Maus whose Passive Skills improve Work Speed. The Passive Skill called Artisan is the ideal one to have for your Maus since it increases Work Speed by 50%!
Do remember that you need to maintain a proper working condition for your Pals to continuously work. Hence, you at least need to create Straw Pal Beds, a Berry Plantation, and a Feed Box for your Pals to use.
To automate farming Berries, you also need to assign Pals with the correct Work Suitability to it such as the Lifmunk to plant and harvest the Berries. A Fuack can also be added to the base to water the Berries and transport them to the Feed Box.

Other Ways to Get Gold Coins |

If you need more Gold Coins, a way to get more of them is to sell your Pals to Pal Merchants located at various settlements in Palworld. The closest one to the Plateau of Beginnings is the Small Settlement which can be found in the exact location shown above.
A great Pal to sell to the merchant is the Relaxaurus since it costs 3225 Gold Coins. If you need to catch more of them, you can teleport to the Sealed Realm of the Thunder Dragon which is located at the coordinates, (-215, -348). Alternatively, you can also go to Ascetic Falls at the coordinates, (-224, -442).

Defeating hostile NPCs such as the Syndicate Thug, who are scattered everywhere, can also reward you with Gold Coins. Do not forget to bring a Pal with you to defeat them faster!

Another way to get more Gold Coins is to open chests that can be found throughout Palworld. Note that some chests may need a Silver Key or Copper Key to open!
It is possible to acquire Gold Coin from Pals that drop this item. Below is a list of monsters that might drop Gold Coin.

Some items exist only to be sold for Gold Coins. These include gems, which can be dropped by Pals, and precious items, which are dropped by Alpha Bosses and Lucky Pals when defeated or captured. Make sure to sell them to free up inventory space while earning some Gold.
List of Alpha Bosses and Locations
You can use Gold Coins to buy Materials and Schematics from the Wandering Merchants. If you need Pals, then the Pals Merchant sells them. Do note that these types of Merchants can usually be found in settlements.
Another type of Merchant called the Black Marketeer sells Pals as well. With the Black Marketeer, you can sell Humans to them since they are contraband. The closest one to the Plateau of Beginnings can be found in an Abandoned Mine Shaft at (25, -419).
