FF7 Rebirth has several optional quests scattered throughout each Region and can be accepted via the Community Noticeboard in each town.

Complete these side quests to obtain new equipment, items and EXP, and to improve your relationship with your party members.

Chapter 1: Fall of a Hero ┣ Explore the village and find Zangan. ┣ Make your way through the Mako Reactor and defeat the Materia Guardian. ┗ At the inn, talk to Tifa and Barret.
Chapter 2: A New Journey Begins ┣ Talk to Aerith and go to the clock tower. ┣ Escape from Kalm and proceed through the objectives up to Bill’s Ranch. ┣ Follow the Chocobo tracks and wrangle a Chocobo. Complete the Hustle de Chocobo minigame. ┗ Ride the Chocobo to the swamp and fight Midgardsormr. Note: Be sure to complete all conversations with your party before going to the clock tower in Kalm to increase Romance level with each of them.
Chapter 3: Deeper into Darkness ┣ Make your way through the mine. ┣ Defeat Rude and Elena. ┣ Navigate the quarry with Barret using the mine carts. ┗ Defeat Mythril Golem.
Chapter 4: Dawn of a New Era ┣ Interact with party members after arriving Under Junon. 　┗ Optional: Complete Stuck in a Rut side quest to allow fast travel back to Grasslands. ┣ Defeat Terror of the Deep. ┣ Knock on the rooms of party members at the inn to progress relationships. ┣ Play through Dolphin Show minigame. ┣ Disguise as a soldier and locate at least 5 members of the 7th infantry. ┣ Complete Junon Parade minigame. ┣ Escort and keep the 5 soldiers alive for better rewards. ┗ Defeat Roche.
Chapter 5: Blood in the Water ┣ Win or forfeit Queen's Blood Tournament. ┗ Defeat Jenova Emergent.
Chapter 6: Fool's Paradise ┣ Clothe your characters in beach outfits by completing minigames. 　┣ Complete Card Carnival or Pirate's Rampage minigame for Cloud's beachwear. 　┣ Complete Run Wild or Cactuar Caper minigame for Aerith's beachwear. 　┗ Complete Wheelie Rendezvous or Piano minigame for Tifa's beachwear. ┗ Defeat the Grasptropod at the beach. Note: Be sure to complete all conversations with your party before leaving the beach to increase Romance level with each of them.
Chapter 7: Those Left Behind ┣ Climb Mt. Corel and defeat Custom Valkyrie. ┣ Navigate the Preparation Plant using Yuffie and the Grappling Hook. 　┗ Beat Gigatrice. ┗ Follow the tracks to North Corel. 　┗ There will be a lever that you can use to affect your Relationship Level with Barret or Yuffie.
Chapter 8: All That Glitters ┣ Complete 3D Brawler Minigame 　┗ You can win or lose, but winning will improve your Relationship Level with Red XIII. ┣ Explore the Gold Saucer and the minigames. You don't have to win any. ┣ Gear up for the race by collecting 3 Greens for Piko out of a possible 6. Any extras can be used to purchase Chocobo Gear. ┣ Finish first in the Chocobo Cup. ┣ Head to the scrapyard and defeat Dyne with Barret. ┣ Defeat Anuran Suppressor. ┗ Play minigame sequence where you control Barret shooting at Shinra vehicles from the back of an escape vehicle.
Chapter 9: The Planet Stirs ┣ Explore Gongaga. 　┣ In the village, talk to party members except Cait Sith to affect your Relationship Levels. 　┗ Unlock Forest Chocobo to navigate the region more easily. ┣ Restore power to the generator and defeat Specimen H1024. ┗ Head to the reactor and beat Crimson Mare Mk. II
Chapter 10: Watcher of the Vale ┣ Get to the Cosmo Canyon Observatory. ┣ Fully equip Barret and Red XIII for The Trials of Gi section of the chapter. ┗ Go through the dungeon and beat Gi Nattak.
Chapter 11: The Long Shadow of Shinra ┣ Head to the Mako Reactor. 　┗ Once in Nibelheim, interact with party members to affect Relationship Levels. ┣ Go through Mt. Nibel. 　┗ Beat Diabolic Variant. ┣ Go through the Shinra Mansion and Mako Research Facility. 　┣ Use Cait and the Moogle to pick up and throw boxes to solve puzzles around the facility. 　┗ Beat Yin and Yang. ┗ Complete Shinra Manor Boss Rush. 　┣ Beat Forgotten Specimen. 　┣ Beat Galian Beast. 　┗ Beat Roche.
Chapter 12: A Golden Key ┣ If your Relationship Level with a character is high enough, you will go on a date. ┣ Complete Musclehead Colosseum minigame ┗ Follow and catch Cait Sith in Gold Saucer.
Chapter 13: Where Angels Fear to Tread ┣ From the Costa del Sol port, reach the Northern Continent 　┗ Prepare the entire party for battle using a nearby bench and vending machines. ┣ Explore the Forgotten Temple Labyrinth 　┗ Beat Red Dragon. ┣ Complete Cloud, Tifa, and Barret sections. 　┣ Beat Ironclad. 　┗ Beat Reno and Rude. ┣ Complete the Aerith, Red XIII, and Yuffie sections. 　┣ Get Lifestream Fragments by destroying blue crystals, defeating enemies, or finding them lingering in the air. 　┣ Beat Moss-Grown Adamantoise. 　┗ Beat Elena and Tseng. ┗ Find the Black Materia by completing individual trials and defeating Demon Gate.

Main Story Has 14 Chapters

The main story of FF7 Rebirth consists of 14 chapters in total, 4 fewer than the 18 chapters of FF7 Remake. However, due to the amount of new minigames and side content, you can expect up to a 100+ hours of gameplay if you play and watch everything offered.

As you progress through the story, you will gain opportunities backtrack to places you've been to and fully explore the regions, unlocking content and side missions you may have missed.

Where the Story Left Off

Final Fantasy 7 Remake follows the adventures of Cloud Strife and is set in Midgar. Cloud initially joins the eco-terrorist group known as AVALANCHE on a mission to destroy a Mako Reactor, which is draining the planet's essence for energy and is owned by the private corporation called Shinra.

Throughout the game, Cloud explores the different sectors of Midgar, where he encounters Tifa, a childhood friend, and Aerith, the last of the ancients. He recruits them to infiltrate the Shinra Headquarters, where he ultimately faces off against Sephiroth and changes the timeline.
