Limit Breaks are powerful abilities your characters can use after filling up their Limit Gauge in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth (FF7 Rebirth). Learn how to unlock Limit Breaks, and find out more about these abilities!

How to Use Limit Breaks

Fill the Limit Gauge and Open the Commands Menu

Getting hit and staggering enemies fill up your Limit Gauge—a small bar located beneath your MP bar.

Once the Limit Gauge reaches full, open the Commands Menu and scroll down to the revealed Limit option. Choose a Limit Break to use and select a target to unleash a signature move!

Limit Breaks don't require ATB charges.

Available Limit Breaks Depend on Limit Level

A new Limit mechanic added in Remake is the Limit Level. Two additional stats were added to determine a character's Initial Limit Level and their Max Limit Level.

When the character is ready to use a Limit Break (Limit Gauge is full), their Limit Break list will show all unlocked and usable Limit Breaks based on their Limit Level.

This means that you'll gain access to even powerful Limit Breaks with a higher Limit Level!

Synergy Abilities and Accessories Can Increase Limit Level

Some Synergy Abilities and Accessories are confirmed to provide a buff that increases the Limit Level of the characters.

Accessories that Increase Limit Levels
Enhanced Expeditionary Medal	Increases level limit to maximum at the start of battle.
Expeditionary Medal	Increases level limit by 1 at the start of battle.

What are Limit Breaks?

Ultimate Abilities of Characters

Limit Breaks are the strongest attacks and abilities your characters can use in combat. These are sure to turn the tables against challenging opponents or even end the fight swiftly when used at the perfect opportunity.

Due to the massive damage dealt by offensive Limit Breaks, they are best used on Staggered enemies.

Level 3 Limit Breaks are Obtained from Folio Skil Trees

In Rebirth, all characters have two levels of their limit break unlocked. The third limit break must be unlocked from the character Folio Skill Tree by spending SP.

SP is obtained from manuscripts that you can obtain through various activities.
