Operator abilities can apply five different Art Inflictions, which can vary from Physical, Heat, Cryo, Electric, to Nature.
While most Operators can apply Art Infliction, Casters can apply it most consistently. This is because all of their abilities, including basic attack and combo skills, can deal Art Infliction.

When an enemy is suffering from an Art Infliction, applying an Infliction of a different element triggers an Arts Reaction. The type and effect of the Arts Reaction triggered will depend on the element that procs it.

If the same kind of Art Infliction is applied to the enemy, this Art Infliction will stack, which will result in an Art Burst. Arts Bursts deal massive elemental damage to the enemy after a short delay with no other added effects.
Note that the maximum stack of all Art Infliction is four.
If an enemy is suffering from a non-Heat Infliction, applying Heat Infliction will trigger the Combustion Arts Reaction.
Combustion deals Heat Damage per second over a duration. The Heat Damage dealt is based on the ATK of the operator who triggered Combustion.
Applying Cryo Infliction on an enemy suffering from a non-Cryo Infliction will trigger the Arts Reaction Solidification. Enemies afflicted with Solidification cannot move.
If an enemy is Solidified, inflicting Vulnerable or another Physical Status triggers Shatter. Shatter deals massive Physical Damage to the enemy and ends Solidification.
The Electrification Arts Reaction triggers when applying an Electric Infliction on an enemy suffering from a non-Electric Infliction.
Enemies suffering from Electrification will receive increased Arts Damage for a duration.
Corrosion is triggered when applying Nature Infliction to enemies under a non-Nature Infliction.
Corrosion decreases the enemy's defense against all elements over time until it reaches a certain threshold.

Arts Reactions are a combination of different Elemental Inflictions to produce an effect. These effects often focus on increasing damage dealt, such as applying a DoT, increasing damage taken by the enemy, or reducing their defenses.
Requiring different elements differentiates Arts Reactions from Physical Statuses. Physical Status can't apply Art Reactions, and will always apply Vulnerable first. Once an enemy has the Vulnerable status, any other Physical Status can be applied right after
