One of the differences between a Portable Originium Rig and an Electric Mining Rig is the power consumption. Portable Originium Rigs do not use any Power, while each Electric Mining Rig uses 5 Power, with the Electric Mining Rig Mk II using 10 Power.
How to Increase AIC Power Output

Another big difference is that Electric Mining Rigs automatically transfer their contents to the current Region's Depot every ten seconds. Originium Mining Rigs, on the other hand, must be manually emptied of its contents once it reaches full capacity.

The biggest difference between the two, however, is that Portable Originium Rigs can only mine Originium Ore, while Electric Mining Rigs can mine Originium Ore, Amethyst Ore, and even Ferrium Ore (using an Electric Mining Rig Mk II).

Electric Mining Rigs, both the basic version and the Mark II version, are the best mining rigs to use thanks to their ability to automatically transfer their contents to the Depot, as well as their flexibility in the resources they can mine.
While Portable Originium Rigs will be your main source of resources during the game's earlier stages, they will be quickly outshone by their electric counterparts, which remain relevant even in Wuling.
