Alesh boasts high SP generation with plenty of restrictions, requiring teams with high Cryo Infliction against plenty of weak enemies to fully maximize his utility. Alesh's playstyle is also a mix of multiple mechanics, some of which involve luck. Due to this, he can be inconsistent and is one of the reasons why we placed him in this tier.

Alesh is mainly built as a support character, providing great SP generation to the team while also applying Cryo Infliction and Solidification to enemies. You want to build on this mechanic by improving his skill cooldowns, primary attributes, and supportive capabilities.

For Alesh's late game build, Finchaser greatly buffs his capabilities by increasing the Cryo DMG taken by enemies for the team and boosting his own damage.
For the gear set, Frontiers is the best available option since its bonus provides extra DMG buffs when he regens SP and improves his Combo Skill's cooldown. Furthermore, the individual gear pieces give Strength and Intellect, as well as Ultimate DMG Bonus and Cryo DMG for his personal damage output.
As an off-piece, Eternal Xiranite Gloves is worth using on him for its stats and the Ultimate Gain Efficiency it provides, improving the skill's uptime.

In the early game, Armored MSGR is the best option for its Strength attribute, but you can slot in a piece of Mordvolt Insulation, namely the Armor piece, to get Strength and Intellect as well. Fortmaker is also highly recommended for him early on, as it synergizes well with his kit and stat requirements.

Alesh's signature weapon, Finchaser 3.0, is undoubtedly his best weapon since it improves upon his Cryo DMG and Strength stat. That said, you can use other alternatives to buff allies since his main role is to support the team. Thermite Cutter has a good ATK buff for the entire team, and is arguably better in some situations.
You can also utilize Fortmaker to have his Ultimate become more available while buffing Arts Intensity quite a bit. Lastly, Wave Tide is a viable 4-star option for its general buffs, but should otherwise be replaced once you get better weapons.

Frontiers:
Wearer's Combo Skill Cooldown Reduction +15%.
After the wearer recovers SP with a skill, the team gains DMG +16% for 15s. This effect cannot stack.
|
|
Alesh's best gear set is the Frontiers set since it meshes well with his SP regen-centric playstyle. The set bonus gives an extra DMG buff to the team when he recovers SP, and it lets him cast his Combo Skill more frequently for even more SP regen.
For individual pieces, we recommend getting Frontiers Armor to improve Alesh's Ultimate DMG, two Frontiers Comm T1 kits for their Cryo DMG Bonus, and an offset Eternal Xiranite Gloves to have his Ultimate gain energy faster.

Armored MSGR:

|
|
Alesh's best early game gear is the Armored MSGR set due to it providing Strength, which is his Main Attribute. Aside from this, it gives DMG reduction, improving his sustain as a support better. That said, we recommend equipping the off-piece Mordvolt Insulation Vest since it gives both Strength and Intellect for him.
Alesh is best played as the main SP generator for the team and force applying Solidification upon enemies. As such, he works best as a Teammate rather than the Controlled Operator for the team.
To maximize his abilities, use them based on these tips:
Alesh's Ultimate is an AoE attack that applies Cryo Infliction to enemies hit and recovers SP in the process. The more enemies are defeated with the Ultimate, the more SP is gained.
Alesh's Battle Skill deals Physical DMG to an enemy and consumes all Cryo Infliction stacks of the afflicted enemy. The more Cryo Infliction stacks are consumed, the more SP is recovered. Do take note that the SP recovery applies to one target only, so hitting more enemies will not increase the effect.
The attack also forces Solidification upon enemies, making for great combos with certain Physical or Arts reactions.
If an Arts Reaction occurs or if an Originium Crystal generated by Endministrator is consumed, Alesh's Combo Skill becomes available. Casting the Combo Skill deals Physical DMG and recovers some SP.
Arts Reaction Guide: How to Trigger
Alesh's Combo Skill has a unique mechanism to it based on chance. If the skill is cast, you have the chance to reel in a Rare Fin that enhances the DMG dealt by the Combo Skill and SP gained. A Rare Fin is indicated by a Gold Fish when Alesh reels in his fishing rod.
If you have Alesh's third Potential unlocked, the entire team also gets a 15% ATK buff when getting a Rare Fin.
| Priority | Skill | Explanation |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Ultimate | Alesh's Ultimate is his strongest ability, applying Cryo Infliction onto enemies on top of its decent damage and SP generation, increasing for each enemy defeated. |
| 2 | Battle Skill | This skill is quite efficient for the team due to its SP recovery, scaling better the more Arts Infliction is present on allies. Due to this, it's worth prioritizing because it opens a lot of skill combos with other team members. |
| 3 | Combo Skill | Alesh's Combo Skill has a low cooldown and recovers some SP. It can be less consistent than his Battle Skill, however, due to the extra SP and DMG being up to chance. As such, you can prioritize it later on. |
| 4 | Basic Attack | For Basic Attacks, it isn't as important compared to his other skills due to him being able to use his Battle and Combo skills more consistently. |
| Priority | Talent | Explanation |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Flash-frozen for Freshness | This Talent allows for his Ultimate to be cast a lot more frequently. Since it's his strongest attack, we suggest upgrading this first. |
| 2 | Veteran Angler | This Talent improves his chances of triggering Rare Fin a lot more efficiently, based on his Intellect. That said, you'll need around 150 Intellect to maximize its effects. |
| Attack | Description |
|---|---|
| Basic Attack | An attack with up to 5 sequences that deals Physical DMG. As the controlled operator, Final Strike also deals 17 Stagger. |
| Dive Attack | Basic attack performed in mid-air becomes a dive attack that deals Physical DMG to nearby enemies. |
| Finisher Attack | Basic attack performed near a Staggered enemy becomes a finisher attack that deals massive Physical DMG and recovers some SP. |

The SP recovery effect can only trigger 1 time, even if the skill hits multiple enemies. | |

The best gift to give Alesh is the Cosmic Gate Puzzle to increase his trust significantly. However, you can still give him the alternatives above for smaller trust increases.

Alesh is a former gang leader who has since left that way of life, now working with Endfield while running his own fin shop. Cordial and easy-going, it would be difficult to believe he used to be a thug, if not for his scarred eye.
His past experiences are more evident in combat as he still performs solidly in a fight. That being said, he does his best to stick to his new lifestyle, even bringing out his fishing rod as a weapon in the heat of battle.

The required amount of intelligence in the guide for the Veteran Angler talent is incorrect. Instead of 150, you need 600 intelligence for a full buff. Therefore, you need to choose a different Frontier's kit to buff your secondary stat (wise).
