I wouldn't fully just go for her and give up on Laevatein, as Laevatein has one of the highest of not the highest damage in the whole game. I would personally recommend going for Laevatein and getting gilberta as well if you can, as applying gilberta to anyone is always great, but putting that towards Laevatein, you can do some serious damage.
As F2P player, I recommended saving up for Gilberta upcoming banner instead of Laevatein. Her battle and combo really good at locking down mobs, easy to play and fit many comps. She has a small healing as bonus. With the starter F2P team MC, Perli and Ardelia, she can start battle right away with her battle skill as NPC to group up mob, gives you enough time to do one free NA combo which then would trigger all 4 combo skills and a lift to crushed with MC battle skill (2 bar SP just right).
