POSEIDON is presented as having no hostility toward humans whatsoever. This is particularly noticeable when Aloy retrieves it and offers to bring it home to GAIA.
POSEIDON was one of the first subordinate functions deployed after MINERVA's functions were complete, working along with machines created by HEPHAESTUS to purify the various oceans, rivers, and lakes on Earth.
When HADES was infected by the Mysterious Signal, GAIA destroyed herself to prevent it from taking over. During this period, a deranged and semi-conscious POSEIDON fled to a processor somewhere in the Forbidden West. Aloy obtains POSEIDON in the main quest The Sea of Sands, where she discovers it in a vast desert area, buried in the underwater ruins of Las Vegas.
POSEIDON is the subordinate function responsible for purifying the Earth's water, allowing it to sustani life. Although GAIA's terraforming process was interrupted, POSEIDON was partially successful as there is drinking water available in areas inhabited by humans.
