This is a guide to Mounts in Horizon Forbidden West. Read on to learn ways to obtain Mounts and the types of machines you can mount.

Description
When a threat is detected, these herd machines will actively pursue and attack in numbers.

BristlebackProfile-2.jpg Bristleback TAU
Description
Herd Machine that uses its tusks to dig up resources. Can use Elemental ranged and melee attacks.

ClawStriderProfile.jpg Clawstrider IOTA
Description
A fast and agile combat machine covered in razor-sharp blades. It is often encountered in small packs and is capable of a variety of deadly melee attacks.

SunwingProfile.jpg Sunwing GEMINI
Description
Slightly bigger than Glinthawks, Sunwings gather and store solar energy. Its senses will become sharper while idle to detect potential danger.

How to Get and Use Mounts

Methods for Obtaining Mounts

How to Obtain
1 Override the Machine so you can mount it.
2 Repair current Mount to make it rideable again.
3 Use Mount Call to call current mount.

Override

Objectives

Sneak up on a mountable machine. The Hold to Override prompt will appear once it's within reach. You'll need the proper Override to do this, which are unlocked by clearing the appropriate Cauldron and crafting the Override.

Hold the override button until the bar fills up.

You'll be able to mount the machine once this is completed. Tapping the (X) button speeds it up and holding the (O) button slows it down. More information about controlling a mount can be found here. here.

Use Mount Call to Summon Current Mount

A Call Mount prompt will be available once you have a mount. Using this will make your mount return to you.

Repair Mounts When Necessary

Repairing Mounts When they are heavily damaged will allow you to use them for longer periods. Make note that repairing Mounts require Metal Shards.

How To Recover Lost Mounts

Mounts Will Return if They Are Not Killed

Even if you are just starting from a loaded save file, as long as your mount has not been killed, and you are in an area where it can enter, you can summon your mount using the Mount Call command.
