Gerard is very arrogant and condescending, this is probably the result of his status as a Zenith, as well as his former life where he was a very rich and powerful businessman. Gerard also has very little regard for human life, as shown with his relationship with Beta, who he views as nothing more than a tool.
Gerard was the owner of a powerful financial company whose wealth and influence allowed him to escape Earth when the Faro Plague began, as well as position himself as the leader of the Zeniths. In order to escape NEMESIS, a failed program created by Zenith experiments, Gerard and other Zeniths fled to Earth, and created Beta in order to obtain GAIA and terraform a new planet.
Gerard first meets Aloy at the Proving Lab. Viewing Aloy as a threat, he orders Erik to kill her, although Aloy manages to escape. Deducing that HEPHAESTUS will be one of the subprograms that they will Aloy will attempt to obtain next, he confronts Aloy again at Cauldron GEMINI. Althouh he and Erik kill Varl, kidnap Beta, and steal HEPHAESTUS as well as GAIA, Tilda betrays Gerard to allow Aloy to escape.
Having obatined all that is necessary to terraform a new planet, Gerard and the Zeniths attempt to leave Earth before NEMESIS arrives. Their plans are interrupted by Aloy as well as Tilda, who has betrayed Gerard and the other Zeniths to protect ALoy and Beta. While Aloy and Zo defeat Erik and the other Zeniths, Tilda chases Gerard to the top of the Zenith hideout, where she ends up killing him by shooting him in the back.
As a Zenith, Gerard is nearly immortal and possess the ability of flight and fire blasts of energy from his hands. Like other Zeniths, he also posseses a shield that grants him invicibility, but it is disabled by Sylens during the final battle at the Zenith base.
