This guide will show you how to complete the Need to Know, a Side Quest in Horizon Forbidden West (HFW). Read on to learn the quest objectives, strategies, location, and rewards for completing the Need to Know Side Quest.

To unlock this side quest you need to complete the Burning Blooms side quest, and The Broken Sky main quest
Talk to Talanah and Ragurt in Camp Nowhere to begin the side quest.

1 | Meet Talanah in Thornmarsh Follow the map marker to Talanah's location in Thornmarsh. Talk to her to continue to the next objective. |
2 | Follow Talanah to find Amadis Follow Talanah to the next location until you encounter Amadis fighting a Fireclaw. Kill the machine to proceed to the next objective. |
3 | Talk to Amadis and Talanah Talk to Talanah and Amadis to continue the side quest. |
4 | Go to the Rot Follow Amadis and Talanah to the Rot. |
5 | Find the Entrance to the Rot Use your Focus to find an entrace to the Rot. Go around the Rot to the back of the entire prison to find a way in. |
6 | Open the Gate for Talanah and Amadis and Kill the Rebels Inside the Rot, you have to fight the rebels inside. Kill them and open the gate for Talanah and Amadis. |
7 | Kill the Tideripper After killing the Rebels, you will encounter a Tideripper. Kill the machine to continue. |
8 | Open the Cell Door Talk to Amadis and Talanah and open the cell door and complete the sidequest. |
Use freeze arrows to slow down the Tideripper and leave it vulnerable to attacks on it's weakpoints. You can also target those huge weakpoints using Spike Throwers, making them break easier.
