This guide will show you how to complete the Breaking Even, a Side Quest in Horizon Forbidden West (HFW). Read on to learn the quest objectives, strategies, location, and rewards for completing the Breaking Even Side Quest.

You can begin this side quest after completing The Burning Blooms side quest and the The Eye of the Earth main quest.
Talk to Porguf in Camp Nowhere to begin the quest.

1 | Go to the Tunnel Follow the marker leading to the ancient tunnel and investigate the area. You can go further after igniting a wall with Firegleam. |
2 | Talk to Lunda Proceed past the wall until you encounter an injured Oseram named Lunda and talk to her. |
3 | Investigate the Tunnel Continue moving inside the tunnel. There are a lot of crates that you can open along the way before proceeding to the next area. |
4 | Kill the Machines While exploring the tunnel, you will encounter machines. Kill them to proceed to the next area. |
5 | Go further into the Tunnel After killing the machines, use the Pullcaster to break the debris blocking the tunnel. |
6 | Kill the Rockbreaker After exiting the tunnel, you will encounter a Rockbreaker. Kill the machine to investigate the area. |
7 | Find Porgul's Lockbox (Optional) You can search for Porgul's Lockbox in the area using your Focus. |
8 | Find an Entrance to the Eastern Side Use the Pullcaster to remove debris blocking the way. Enter the tunnel, and use a Fire Arrow to blow the explosive barrel up to free the entrance. |
9 | Return to Porgul Return to Porguf to complete the side quest. |
Rockbreakers are weak against shock arrows. Use them to prevent them from moving, and attack their weak spots using arrows and spear attacks.
The Spinebreak door can be opened by acquiring a code from a Datapoint entitled The Other Side during the side quest. The code is 2054, and inside is a vault filled with ancient items that can sell for Metal Shards.
