The game was released worldwide on February 18, 2022 for PlayStation 4 and 5. The sequel to the beloved Horizon Zero Dawn continues the story of Aloy from the previous game as she traverses new landscapes and explores new horizons.

Midnight Local Time
Horizon Forbidden West was released at midnight, adjusted to each area's local time.
This set it apart from other PlayStation exclusives, which usually has worldwide releases. In a worldwide release, people around the world will all gain access at the same time, while a local time release means that players in eastern time zones are able to play the game earlier
Keep in mind that changing the region or timezone on your console does not affect the time you can play the game, since it is dependent on the timezone of the PlayStation Store where the game was purchased.

Preorders Information
Though the game was scheduled to come out on February 18, preorders have been made available since early September the previous year.
Early Gameplay Information
Players were able to play the game early when they purchased a digital copy of the game from a PlayStation Store with an earlier timezone.
If you were based in the United States and bought a digital copy of the game through the Australian PlayStation Store, you could have played your game up to 15 hours earlier than others in your region

Available Platforms
Horizon Forbidden West will come out as a PlayStation exclusive upon release and is only available to play on PlayStation 4 and 5. However, since its predecessor Horizon Zero Dawn was brought to PC after release, we can expect the same to happen to this game.
