Which Disc to Use

This is a guide to installing and starting the physical PS4 version of Horizon Forbidden West using the Data Disc and Play Disc. Learn how to set up the game and how to use each of the game's two discs.

The Data Disc and the Play Disc

When you open your copy of Horizon Forbidden West, you might be surprised to find two Disks. The Data Disc will be used to install necessary data before starting the game. After you've finished installing via the Data Disc, you'll be using the Play Disc when playing the actual game.

Which Disc to Use

Insert the Data Disc First

Insert Data Disc First
To install necessary data needed to install the game, you will need to insert the Data Disc first. The Data Disc contains essential data needed to run the game, so if you don't start with the Data Disc, you won't be able to start playing the game. For the physical PS4 version, the Data Disc should be the first disc on top when opening the box. Also each disc will be labeled on the surface.

Insert the Play Disc Second

Insert Play Disc Second
After the installation on the Data Disc has completed, you'll need to switch to the Play Disc to continue the installation. A notification will appear on screen telling you to remove the Data Disc and insert the Play Disc. At this time, hit the eject button on your console to eject the disc, and insert the Play Disc. The Play Disc should be the second (bottom) disk that you see when opening the box. I want to update my PS4 version to PS5 ..so do I first have to install PS4 v raion on PS5 and then upgrade or ...do i have to only insert play disc and the upgrade will be done ..please help ?

Thank you. I was so confused when i first opened it and found TWO discs instead of the usual one. Even my brother (who is always our joker when it comes to technological issues) was uncertain what to do.
