More than likely due to his military past, Erik is very bloodthirsty and enjoys combat, this results in him often fighting enemies in Gerard's place. Like other Zeniths, Gerard is also very arrogant and has very litte respect for humanity.
Erik was the owner under a privatized military company, and often participated in the killing contracts he received from clients in order to satisfy his bloodlust. He fled Earth after the Faro Plaque and eventually became a Zenith, returning to Earth with Gerard, Tilda, and other Zeniths in order to restore GAIA and terraform a new planet.
Erik first encounters Aloy at the Proving Lab, and is ordered by Gerard to kill her. Although his shield makes him impervious to her attacks, Aloy managaes to escape. Erik faces Aloy and Varl at Cauldron GEMINI while they are capturing HEPHAESTUS. Although Aloy manages to escape, Varl is killed by Erik, and the Zeniths manage to capture Beta and GAIA.
Erik fights Aloy once again in the final battle before the Zeniths are able to flee Earth. With his shield disabled due to Sylens, Erik is defeated by Aloy and Zo, who exacts her revenge for Varl's death by dealing the finishing blow.
Erik has a wealth of combat knowledge prior to becoming a Zenith, and the many fights that he experienced through simulations makes him one of the strongest Zeniths. He possess the ability to fly, fire blasts from his hands as well as as invincibility due to hhis shield. In his fights with Aloy, he is shown to also form weapons with his arms, as well move across short areas at high speed.
