Flashpoint Choices Horizon Forbidden West

Flashpoint Choices are a mechanic in Horizon Forbidden West that allows players to choose Aloy's personality. Read on to learn more about whether it affects the game and how it works!

Do Flashpoint Choices Affect the Story?

Flashpoint Choice Sample Horizon Forbidden West

Flashpoint Choices affect dialogue for certain scenes, determined by Aloy's personality and the way players choose to respond. These choices do not affect the overall story and only affect the outcome of the scene or scenario.

So don't worry, all your choices will only affect how Aloy responds and how you wish to play her. No part of the overall plot will change from your choices.

How do Flashpoint Choices Work?

During certain segments of the game, you will be given 3 options to respond to the situation. Each icon has a different type of response and shows different sides to Aloy's personality.

The three options are the Fist, Brain, and Heart which result in the following:

Fist Aloy will confront the challenge directly.
Brain Aloy will use her insight to find a clever, less obvious approach.
Heart Aloy will express compassion or give voice to her deepest convictions.

As these are mostly a roleplay element of the game, there are generally only changes to the tone of the conversation. Just remember that unless you load up a previous save to do the conversation again, you can only choose and view one option from the 3, so make sure to choose wisely!

Flashpoint Choices
Fist Someone who doesn't have time for this.
Brain Someone who had a good reason.
Heart Someone who had no other choice.

Fist Option

Aloy will argue with Erend in an aggressive, ranting way. She explains how limited her time is, and she doesn't have the time to tell anyone. She also indicates it will be easier if she goes solo and leaves as soon as possible rather than waiting for someone to help.

Brain Option

Aloy will try to explain the situation logically. She will tell Erend everything that she does is for a good reason. She will also inform him about the current situation in a technical manner, even if she knows he wouldn't understand it.

Heart Option

Aloy will try to explain things and compassionately apologize to Erend. She will tell him that she understands how hard it is for him and everyone. She also implies that she is the only person who can save the world, giving her no choice. She refuses help from him as well, as there are no enemies or any bad guys to fight.

Flashpoint Choices
Fist Find your courage.
Brain Look at the odds.
Heart I'll protect you.

Fist Option

Aloy will try to persuade Beta in a forcing and aggressive way. She will tell Beta that the only way to live peacefully is to beat the Zenith, and in order for them to do that, she is to help Aloy get HEPHAESTUS back to GAIA.

Brain Option

Aloy will convince Beta to come in the most logical way possible. She'll tell her that she has already been a great help to them, and the risk of Zenith finding them is much lower than when she is not there.

Heart Option

Aloy will try to get on Beta's good side on this option. She will reassure Beta that she will be protected at all times, personally by Aloy, when getting HEPHAESTUS back.

The Wings of the Ten Main Quest

Flashpoint Choices
Fist Your life ends here.
Brain This isn't easy.
Heart There's another battle ahead.

Fist Option

Aloy will show no mercy on Regalla. She will tell her that she deserves to die, letting Kotallo kill her in front of everyone. You will receive Regalla's Bow after she dies, and you won't see her at the final battle against the Zenith.

Brain Option

Aloy will mostly tell them her thoughts about killing or sparing Regalla. Despite being a rebel, she is still a great leader who almost pushed a tribe into falling apart. But because of her deeds, she also deserves to face death. You will have to choose from one of the other options to progress through the quest.

Heart Option

Aloy will let Regalla live, asking her assistance for the upcoming battle against the Zenith. You won't receive anything by sparing her life, but you will have a chance to see her in the last fight on the Singularity Quest.
