Ted Faro Profile and Backstory

Personality

As the founder and head of Faro Automated Solutions, Ted Faro is driven and charismatic, selliing his technology and innovations to those who are wiling to pay the price. His origins, and that of Faro Automated Solutions (FAS), was rooted in helping the environment and creating green technology with Elisabet Sobeck. Eventually his hubris and carelessness not only drives him away from that goal but also leads him to dive into creating military weapons and machines of war.

Near the end, his desperation made him reckles, dangerous, and obsessive. Powered by his greed and arrogance, he became fearful for the future of humans and the dangers of what they knew. Everything turns on its head when he destroys APOLLO, the fountain of knowledge for these future generations, and ends the lives of the Alphas of Project Zero Dawn.

Horizon Zero Dawn

Ted Faro made a mark in the world when he worked with Elisabet Sobeck in solving an environmental crisis. This was the moment that Faro Automated Solutions (FAS) was put on the map, pushing him into the limelight. FAS quickly grew into one of the biggest technology companies of its time, and Ted Faro began his foray into military technology.

In the move towards weapons, Ted Faro not only thrived but also created tensions where he could. This success did not last. The Chariot Line in particular spelled out the beginning of his decline and noteriety, an array of self-sustaining and incredibly powerful war machines with a glitch that made them nigh unstoppable. These machines were the beginning of the end as they knew it and went down in history as the Faro Plague.

In order to save the planet, he enlists the help of Elisabet Sobeck, thus beginning the creation of GAIA, a terraforming system that would help restart life on the planet. But, as the project progressed and the Faro Plague worsened, so did Ted Faro's state of mind. He became obsessed, almost to the point of delusion, in ensuring that the future generations do not repeat the same misakes they did. When Elisabet passed, there was no one left to stop him from enacting his plan, allowing him to destroy APOLLO and end the lives of all the Alphas that knew of Project Zero Dawn.

Horizon Forbidden West

It has not been revealed whether we may see Ted Faro once more in Horizon Forbidden West.
