Description Harriem and Kristia, two Quen navigators, require a gyrocompass to guide their fleet on the return journey home. They need Aloy to retrieve it from the wreckage of one of their ships.

How to Unlock The Way Home and Location

Complete The Wings of the Ten

This quest will be available on the map after completing The Wings of the Ten main quest.

Talk to Harriem and Kristia at Legacy's Landfall

The Way Home Location

To unlock the quest, talk to Harriem and Kristia at the ship in Legacy's Landfall.

Get the Skykiller Spike Thrower

Completing The Way Home allows you to unlock the Skykiller Spike Thrower, which is one of the game's legendary weapons.

How to Complete

Objectives
1 Call a Sunwing and Fly to the IslandCall a Sunwing and Fly to the Island
Begin the quest by calling a Sunwing and flying to the nearby island.
2 Search the Shipwreck and Kill the MachinesSearch the Shipwreck and Kill the Machines
Upon arriving in the island, you will encounter machines that you need to kill or avoid. After doing that, investigate the shipwreck.
3 Investigate the Scrap PilesInvestigate the Scrap Piles
Move around the island to and find scrap piles nearby. You will be able to find the right pile under the broken bridge.
4 Return to Harriem and KristiaReturn to Harriem and Kristia
Return the Gyrocompass to Harriet and Kristia.
5 Go to the Ancient Shipwreck SiteGo to the Ancient Shipwreck Site
Follow the next map marker to the Ancient Shipwreck.
6 Dive to find the Sensor and BatteriesDive to find the Sensor and Batteries
Dive into the first shipwreck to find the three batteries. The first two are just below the broken sensor. The last battery is inside a separate section of the ship, and is marked by holo images of its emblem.
7 Go to the Second Shipwreck and Kill the DreadwingGo to the Second Shipwreck and Kill the Dreadwing
Fly to the next shipwreck location. You will find a Dreadwing that you need to kill.
8 Get the Sensor UnitGet the Sensor Unit
Use the Sunwing to go to the top of the shipwreck and get the Sensor Unit.
9 Give Supplies to Harriem and KristiaGive Supplies to Harriem and Kristia
Return to Harriem and Kristia to complete the side quest.

Tips and Strategies

How to Beat the Dreadwing

The Dreadwing is weak against fire arrows, which slow them down a lot of leaves their components vulnerable. Combining this with a Spike Thrower will rip off their armor and destroy them quickly.
