Relic Ruins: The Stillsands Walkthrough

Relic Ruins: The Stillsands is the sixth Relic Ruins quest you can access in Horizon Forbidden West (HFW). Read on to learn the best approach to completing this quest, as well as other hints and advice.

To complete this quest, you will need the Igniter ability for your spear. You can obtain this by completing the Story Quest Death's Door.

How to Complete

	Objectives
1	Find an Entrance Starting form the front of the ruins (see In-game location), head left until until you find a chunk of rubble. Start climbing from there and you will eventually see an opening. Enter the ruins by stading on the thin ledge and rappeling down.
2	Reach the Water Valve Directly behind you is a patch of Firegleam you can ignite. After making a hole in the wall, head right alongside the staircase find a crate above you. Use your Pullcaster to bring it down and push the crate inside the room near the ledge. If you use the crate to climb up the ledge, you will find the water valve.
3	Flood the Ruins Turning on the valve will cause water to fill up the room. After jumping down, push the grate in the opening in the wall to flood the ruins. The rising water level will allow to reach the door and key console at the top.
4	Get the Key Face opposite the door and start swimming towards the left of the ruins. The location of the key is on the top of astaircase on the right side of the wall. Pick it up and swim back to open the door.
5	Drain the Water Opening the reveals a crate that you need to push in the water. After doing so, swim back to the water valve room. To drain the water, instead of turning off the valve, use your Pullcaster to remove the crate from the opening, which will allow the water to drain.
6	Climb Up the Pilar and Get the Ornament Push the crate that's outside of the water valve room all the way to the opposite end of the ruins (look for a green glow). When you are finished, push the crate in valve room back in the opening, raising the water elvels once again. After returning to the floating crate, use it to climb the pillar and make your way to the top of the ruins, where you will find the Ornament for these ruins.

Tips and Strategies

Grab the Greenshine Sliver Before you Complete the Ruins

As you may have guessed, the 'green glow' is coming from a Greenshine Sliver. Make sure to pick it up before you climb up the pillar to get the Ornament.

Bring the Diving Mask for Stress-free swimming

Although swimming underwater is minimal here, bringing the Diving Mask to these ruins will makes those brief moments not as stressful. Although you have to complete the Story Quest, Sea of Sands to get the Diving Mask, the location of that mission is not too far from these ruins.
