Main Characters

Aloy

Aloy
Aloy is the main protagonist of the Horizon series, and is the player controlled character. Born an outcast and raised by an unbiological father, Rost, Aloy grew curious about her real parents, and of the outside world.

Through the course of Horizon Zero Dawn's story, Aloy grows to become a powerful and well-respected huntress, uncovering the truth of Earth's past, and the nature of the machine world they now inhabit.

Erend

Erend
Erend is one of the main characters of the Horizon Series and one of the proud warriors of Meridian. Serving the Sun-King Avad allowed Erend to go on a quest to plead to the secluded Nora Tribe and meet Aloy.

After Aloy survived the massacre at the Proving, it gave her and Erend a chance to work together to find out the killers and their true intentions, and both become trusted companions of each other.

Sylens

Sylens
Sylens is a mysterious Banuk warrior who will do everything to know the truth about the machines and what happened before they come into the world.

Sylens became curious about Aloy and started observing her after HADES sent out a kill order on her. He realized afterward that Aloy is the key to unlocking the secrets of the machines and the current world, so he decided to help her.

Varl

Varl
Varl is the son of a legendary Nora war-general named Sona and is a faithful Nora warrior. Varl met Aloy after she got the title of a Seeker and was pursuing the attackers at the proving. Both he and Aloy had the chance to know and work together to defeat the Eclipse warriors settled near their village.

Varl also helped out Aloy in subduing HADES at the final part of the Horizon Zero Dawn main story.

Zo

Zo
Zo is an Utaru healer who helps Aloy and Varl retrieve GAIA's subprogram MINERVA. Through their travels she forms a relationship with Varl and gains a greater admiration for Aloy's knowledge and drive. She assists Aloy's in the final against the Zeniths and ends up landing the finshing blow to Erik.

Beta

Beta
Beta is a genetic copy of Elisabet Sobeck, used by the Zeniths to access Zero Dawn and GAIA. Her strained relationship with the Zeniths causes her join up Aloy to help her gather the remaining subprograms of GAIA and stop the Zeniths. She has a shy, timid personality, but her vast technological knowledge makes her a valuable ally.

Tilda

Tilda
Tilda is a new character in the Horizon series with a similar personality to Sylens, which is mysterious and manipulative. She may become an ally or foe at some point, but what's for sure is that she will play a huge part in the Horizon Forbidden West story.

Gerard

Gerard is head of the Zeniths and one of the main antagonists of Horizon Forbidden West. He fled to Earth from Nemesis and used Beta to obtain GAIA and her subfunctions in order to terraform a new planet. Though he rarely fights, he is shown to be quite a powerful enemy.

Erik is a very powerful Zenith who enjoys fighting more than anything else. He assists Gerard in obtaining GAIA and often tasked with fighting in Gerard's place.

GAIA

GAIA
GAIA is one of the creations of Dr. Elisabet Sobeck in the Zero Dawn project. GAIA's purpose is to restore life and prevent the extinction of all lifeforms on earth. GAIA eventually died after attempting to erase HADES, an AI born to counteract GAIA, by self-destructing.

Although GAIA died in Horizon Zero Dawn, hints in the trailers show that GAIA will appear on Horizon Forbidden West.
GAIA Profile and Backstory

HADES

HADES
HADES is the main antagonist of Horizon Zero Dawn, created to reverse the result if GAIA fails to restore life on earth so GAIA can try again. But unfortunately, HADES gained self-consciousness, filled with hatred that loathed every living creature on earth.

HADES was stopped by Aloy in Horizon Zero Dawn but not killed in the process. Sylens is currently holding HADES up somewhere to interrogate.
HADES Profile and Backstory

Nil

Nil
Nil is a former Carja soldier that now hunts and storms bandit camps to satisfy his hunger for blood. Because of that, he met Aloy at some point in Horizon Zero Dawn and helped each other out in clearing Bandit Camps.

Eventually, when there were no bandit camps left, he asked you to battle to the death. Since you can choose to fight him or not, his appearance in the Horizon Forbidden West is still unknown.

Ted Faro

Ted Faro is a business-minded man that will do anything to satisfy his greed. He and his company, called Faro Automated Solutions (FAS), became successful after resolving an environmental crisis with Elisabet Sobeck, but he didn't stop there. He ventured through military technology and mass-produced unstoppable war machines thatt eventually ended up threatening life on earth.

He ended up asking Elisabet for help to stop what he started, and that was when Project Zero Dawn was born.

Elisabet Sobeck
Elisabet Sobeck is a genius researcher that worked with Ted Faro to solve major environmental issues. She is the one who started the Zero Dawn project that created GAIA to stop the spread of the harmful machines created by Ted Faro. As a backup plan, GAIA created a clone, which is Aloy, from Elisabet's DNA.

Hekarro

Hekarro

Hekarro is the Head Chief of the Tenakth, who has united the three Tenakth tribes, as well as formed a truce with Carja. One of his former Marshal's, Regalla, disagreed with his way of ruling and rebelled agains him and formed her own army in order to end his reign as head chief. In Horizon Forbidden West, Hekarro seeks Aloy's stength in order to defeat Regalla once and for all.

Regalla
Regalla is a former warrior of the Tenakth Tribe, seeking revenge on all those who wronged her. She recruited rebels of her former tribe, just like her, to fight alongside her and thus created the band Regalla's Rebels.

Rost

Rost Horizon Fobidden West
Rost is the acting father of Aloy in Horizon Zero Dawn. He raised and guided Aloy to be the best Nora hunter and tracker that she will need to find the answers she is seeking.

Rost died after saving Aloy from Helis, the leader of Eclipse, who attacked and tried killing Aloy at the proving.

When we want a complete list of character names, that means EVERY name introduced in every tribe, which means (uggh) also includes the grossly misinformed idiots and a**holes of the Quen. Include the Banuk as well. Get on it. Thanks:D
