Zo Profile and Backstory

Personality

Similar to other members of the Utaru clan, Zo is very soft-spooken and nurturing. These qualities aid her in her role as a healer in Plainsong. While she strongly believes in the traditions of the Utaru, she would rather fight to incite change than just passively accepting the inevitable, a personality trait that causes her to join Aloy in her quest.

Horizon Forbidden West

Zo first meets Aloy in Plainsong after Varl brings an injured Aloy to her in search of a place where she can recover. After recovering, Aloy uses her Focus to heal Re, an injured Plowhorn which is viewed as a 'Land-God' among the Utaru. In return, Aloy seeks permission to enter the sacred Utaru cave to retrieve one of GAIA's subprograms, MINERVA.

Seeing Aloy's abilities in action and believing that the sacred cave might hold the secret to why the Utaru lands are currently in decline, Zo agrees to help Aloy and Varl get permission to enter, by consulting the authorities of Plainsong, the Chorus. Although her request is denied, a sudden attack by machines give the three a chance to enter the sacred cave and retrieve GAIA's sunbprogram MINERVA.

Retrieving MINERVA leads the three to The Base, a place created by GAIA to help restore life on Earth. While Aloy continues to retrieve the remaining subprograms POSEIDON, DEMETER, and AETHER, Ko and Varl remain at the base in order to learn more about the technology of the Old Ones and train for any future conflict.

After Varl is killed and Beta is kidnapped by the Zeniths, Zo prepares for the final battle with Aloy and helps her enter the Zenith's base. After Aloy defeats Erik in battle, Ko stabs him in the back, exacting her revenge. Upon defeating the Zeniths, Ko returns to Plainsong in order to find a way to restore the lands to their original fertile state.

Zo's Skills and Abilities

Skilled Warrior

Although her role in Plainsong is mainly that of a healer, Zo is shown to be able to hold her own in combat, particularly during Aloy's battles with the machines in Plainsong, as well as the final battle against the Zeniths. She is skilled with not only spears but bows as well.
