Horizon Forbidden West features both a Performance Mode and Quality Mode on the PS5. Here you’ll find out the details of these two mode settings.

This feature is available only on the PS5.

Recommended for players who prefer smoother frame rates

Performance Mode pushes frame rate up to 60fps, enhancing smoothness of movement and animations. This mode is recommended for players who prefer smother frame rates to high visual fidelity.

At this time, there is no information on the resolution Performance Mode runs on, however players can expect dynamic resolution as this has been a staple of Performance Mode in new-gen titles.

Quality Mode

Resolution 4k
Frame Rate 30fps

This feature is available only on the PS5.

Recommended for players who prefer better graphics

Horizon Forbidden West will also feature a 4K 30fps Quality Mode for the PS5. Although it has reduced frame rates, Quality Mode offers better graphics. This is recommended for players who don't want to compromise on game graphics.

The game's director, Mathijs de Jonge, has confirmed that Horizon Forbidden West will let players swap between Performance Mode and Quality Mode at any point in the game.
