Due to her reatment by the Zeniths prior to meeting Aloy, Beta tends to be socially awkward and has difficulty opening up to people. She also suffers from anxiety attacks, which often cause her to hesistate in making decisions.
Beta is a genetic copy of Elisabeth Sobeck, created by the Zeniths to access Zero Dawn programs and GAIA. To prepare her for this role, she was allowed access to a wealth of knowledge regarding technology and the history of the Old Ones. As she is was viewed only as a tool, she was often abused by Gerard and Erik, which leads to her being very hesitant when interacting with new people.
Beta first encounters Aloy when the Zeniths enter the Proving Lab to get a copy of GAIA, and is forced to watch when Erik attempts to kill Aloy. She later hides form the Zeniths in attempt to have Aloy find her. Aloy succeeds and takes her back to the base.
Depsite her anxious personality and her difficulty in trusting others, Beta helps Aloy come up with a plan to capture HAPHAESTUS, which although seuccessful causes Varl to be killed and Beta and HAPHAESTUS to be captured by the Zeniths.
Aloy ends up rescuing Beta during the final battle against the Zeniths and Tilda's Specter Prime. They return to the base in order to find a way to stop Nemesis.
Beta's knowledge of technology exceeds even that of Aloy's, which allows her to come up with solutions to problems very quickly. Although she's often hesistant to act, her planning allowed Aloy and Varl to successfully capture HAPHAESTEUS.
