Move Away from the Enemy's Vicinity

To run away from a group of enemies, run towards an area with no enemies until the "Fleeing" starts to appear on the top part of the screen. The Fleeing text will disappear once the enemies stop chasing after you and if Cloud puts away his weapon.

You cannot run away from certain enemies

There are some situations where you cannot run away from enemies such as bosses and fiends in the open world area.

What Happens When You Run Away?

Enemies Do Not Disappear

If you run away from a battle, the enemies will not disappear on the field. You will need to defeat the enemies in order to clear them out from the area.

You Do Not Lose Money

In some Final Fantasy games, fleeing from battle causes you to lose a certain amount of gil depending on the enemy you encounter.

Fortunately, this feature is not present in FF7 Rebirth so you can run away without worrying about losing your money in the process.
