How to Pressure Gorgon Mane

Hit It with Fire When it Uses an Ability

Hit it with Fire when it uses an ability. Pressured when it casts spells while Silenced.

The easiest way to Pressure a Gorgon Mane is to hit it with Fire attacks using Fire Materia. However, you will need to wait until it starts using an ability before casting your spell since it will be immune to attacks while moving.

Another way to Pressure it is to use a 2★ Binding Materia and inflict it with the Silence debuff. Whenever it attempts to cast a spell while silenced, it will automatically become Pressured.

Do Not Attack Until They Trigger an Ability

If you attack the Gorgon Mane while they are idle in the air, it will trigger a passive ability where they can dodge all incoming attacks.

The only way to consecutively deal damage is to pressure them first.

Pressure with Fire Spells or Attacks

The Gorgon Mane can be pressured with Fire, their weakness, when they activate any ability such as Petrifying Shot or Thundaga.

Barrage With Attacks Once Pressured

The Gorgon Mane does not have a lot of HP which sort of makes the fight manageable given how hard they are to pressure. So, once pressured, hit them with abilities that increase Stagger like Focused Thrust (Cloud), Focused Strike (Tifa), or Fire spells.

Details
A rare crown lance variant that has adapted to forested environments. It floats near magonga mushrooms, feeding on the insects and smaller creatures drawn by the fungus's fragrance. Exploiting its elemental weakness will pressure it. It will also become pressured when attempting to cast spells while silenced. It cannot be attacked while flitting through the air, so patience is key.

You can encounter Gorgon Mane during the The Spice of Life side quest in the Gongaga Region. Gorgon Mane will appear twice towards the end of the quest while collecting mushrooms.
