Deal Enough Damage to Stop Encroach

During the fight, Demon Gate will use Encroach to decrease the size of the battlefield and make it harder to dodge attacks. Using powerful abilities will stop it from making the arena smaller and pressure it

Tifa will be the Main DPS for this fight since she can deal a lot of single-target damage with her abilities. She also does a ton of damage once Demon Gate's staggered thanks to her Unique Ability and True Strike combo.

Aside from that, she can also spam her Level 3 Limit Break thanks to the Enhanced Expeditionary Medal and Limit Siphon combination. Remember to Siphon away the other party member's Limit Gauges so that she can quickly beat this boss.

Yuffie's main purpose for this fight is to stop Demon Gate from using Arcane Eruption with her elemental spells and abilities.

Save her ATB Charges so that she can use -ga level spells as soon as it uses Arcane Eruption, and always have Doppelganger active so that she casts it on both Demon Gates.

You can replace Aerith's accessory with a Gotterdammerung if you have one.

Aerith's a great support for this boss since her double Altruistic Buff Up Weapon Skills allows her Manaward buff to last for a lot longer than normal. She also has a high base Magic Defense to better tank Demon Gate's Magic attacks.

Her Level 3 Limit Break is also great for supporting Tifa since it allows her to use back-to-back Meteor Strikes with Limit Siphon. Make sure that you don't Siphon her Limit Gauge once her Limit's at Level 3 so that you can maximize the damage you deal to the boss.

How to Beat Demon Gate

Demon Gate Boss Fight Tips

Cast Manaward to Reduce Damage Taken

Most of Demon Gate's attacks deal Magic damage, so you'll want to make sure that you have Manaward active as often as you can. This is especially important when the arena size shrinks and it becomes more difficult to dodge attacks.

Use Synergy Skills to Counter Attacks

Certain Synergy Skills, like Cloud's Counterfire or Yuffie's Ninja Bazooka, allow you to block or dodge an attack and launch a counter in return. Remember to use these when Demon Gate uses certain moves, like Petrifeye, to avoid getting damaged and retaliate quickly.

All Synergy Skills and How to Use

Equip a Cleansing Materia to Remove Petrification

In case you don't have an accessory that negates Petrification, you'll want to have a Cleansing Materia equipped to cast Esuna or Resist and negate Petrification. This way you only need to worry about Petrifeye's damage instead of the negative status effect that it inflicts.

Another Demon Gate Will Spawn at 60% HP

Another Demon Gate will appear on the opposite side of the first one once its HP reaches around 60%. Note that they don't share the same HP, and you need to defeat both of them to defeat this boss.

Stop Arcane Eruption With Attacks of the Opposite Element

Aside from pressuring Demon Gate, you'll want to use the element opposite of Arcane Eruption to stop the attack from going off. This is because Arcane Eruption will cover the entire arena, making it impossible to dodge the attack.
