Players on Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 can choose between Quality or Performance modes in Assassin's Creed Shadows (AC Shadows). See what each option does and which is the best setting here!

Use Performance Mode for Better FPS

Performance and Quality Comparisons

For players on Xbox Series X or PS5, consider switching to Performance mode instead of Quality mode for smoother gameplay at close to 60 FPS. While Quality mode offers slightly better graphics, it is capped at 30 FPS, and the FPS difference is more noticeable.

Overall, the higher frame rate in Performance mode outweighs the visual improvements in Quality mode.

The PlayStation 5 Pro Performs the Same

While the PS5 Pro features better hardware, its Performance mode remains capped at 60 FPS, while Quality mode is likewise capped at 30 FPS.

Higher FPS provides a smoother experience, allowing more fluid transitions between frames. This is especially noticeable during traversal and even more critical in combat, where smoother motion helps with precise timing for parries and dodges.

How to Change Performance Options

Toggle In the Video Settings Menu

Performance Option Setting

On PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, simply open up the settings menu and the Performance Options setting will be in the very top row of the Video settings tab.

Note: Switching this setting will force your game progress to be reset to the last checkpoint. Switching this setting while in the middle of a mission is not recommended.

Best and Recommended Settings

Performance Options Unavailable for Xbox Series S

On Xbox Series S, Performance mode settings are unavailable. The game is locked at 30 FPS, with graphical fidelity comparable to the Performance mode on more powerful consoles.
