Press Q, LB, or L1 Just Before an Enemy Attack

As Naoe, press Q on PC, LB Button on Xbox, or L1 Button on PS5, during combat to deflect. You'll need to perform this maneuver at the right time to successfully deflect an enemy attack while pivoting to the direction you choose.

Deflect is exclusive to Naoe

Naoe's deflect mechanic redirects enemy attacks away from her, while she pivots to either side exposing enemy's flanks. Deflect is exclusive to Naoe similar to how Parrying is exclusive to Yasuke.

Perfect Deflect Causes Vulnerable State

You can perform a Perfect Deflect by deflecting an incoming attack at the right moment. This will put the enemy in a Vulnerable State which highlights an enemy with an orange glow, opening a window of opportunity to land more hits.

Equip Engravings that Enhance Damage on Deflect

Naoe's engravings for the Deflect interaction usually buff her damage and affliction output. For instance, one engraving grants 100% damage to the attacker on deflect.

Another engraving is Trigger Affliction on Deflect, which you can synergize with a weapon that deals one of the four types of Affliction: Bleed, Poison, Daze, or Knock Out.

Which Attacks Can be Deflected?

Normal Hits and Blue Swings Can Be Deflected

When an enemy is about to attack you can deflect normal hits and blue swings. Successfully doing so leaves the enemy open to an attack.

Projectiles Can't Be Deflected

Naoe cannot deflect enemy projectiles. Enemies shooting arrows or bullets will glow red indicating that you cannot deflect. Instead, you can dodge to avoid this attack.

Red Attacks Can't Be Deflected

You cannot deflect all enemy attacks. If the enemy emits a red glow just before attacking, this indicates an attack that you cannot deflect. Instead, you can use dodge to avoid this attack.
