How to Recruit Yagoro

Complete A Blade in the Dark

Yagoro's recruitment quest is called A Blade in the Dark, which can be done in Engyoji in the Harima region. You start this quest by examining an assassinated body at Maniden Hall.

At the end of this quest, you can ask Yagoro to join your team. You do not need to make any specific choices in order to recruit him, so you can guarantee that he will become an ally as long as you ask him to join you.

Complete Secrets of the Blade

The quest needed for Yagoro's recruitment can be unlocked by completing the Secrets of the Blade quest. This is a Naoe Quest that can be unlocked after completing Wolves and Foxes, which unlocks in Act 2.

After you complete Secrets of the Blade, you will notice that The League quest board in the objectives menu will now have an Unknown Shinobi as one of the circles.

This is Yagoro. However, his identity will not be revealed until you do his quest, A Blade in the Dark.

Active and Passive Abilities

Rank	Ability	Description
Novice	Assassinate	Active ability. Yagoro kills an enemy with 3 or fewer health chunks.
Initiate	Chain Assassination	Passive ability. Yagoro kills an extra enemy.
Veteran	One with Death	Passive ability. Kill enemies with up to 5 health chunks.

As a shinobi, Yagoro specializes in assassinating enemies. Though he's not quite as good as Naoe, he can be a useful ally if you're playing as Yasuke and want help in assassinating enemies.

Yagoro is best used once he has been upgraded to the Veteran Rank. He will be able to unlock the One with Death passive ability, allowing him to kill tougher enemies. He can only be ranked up to veteran once you've upgraded the Dojo to level 3.
