Should You Invite Friends or Enemies

You can invite either friends or enemies, leading to different outcomes during the 'Tea Bowls for Rikyu' quest under the People of Yamashiro board in Assassin's Creed Shadows (AC Shadows). Learn about the outcomes of both choices in this part of the quest.

Invite Friends Tea Bowls For Rikyu Choice

Invite Friends Naoe invites friends over to have the tea ceremony and you'll gain +1 Scout
Invite Enemies Naoe invites over enemies from currently active target boards.

During the Tea Bowls for Rikyu quest, Naoe will be asked to collect 7 tea bowls for Sen no Rikyu, (the master you met back during the Tea Ceremony main quest). Once you deliver all 7 back to him, you'll be given the choice to invite friends or enemies to the tea ceremony.

Choosing to invite friends over will result in a cutscene that shows a tea ceremony between Naoe, Yasuke, Sen no Rikyu, Junjiro, and Master Sorin. Once the tea ceremony ends, Sen no Rikyu will become a Scout for the League.

Invite Enemies

Invite Enemies Tea Bowls For Rikyu

If you choose to invite enemies, Sen no Rikyu will hesitate but ultimately invite them over. The targets you invite will be some of your key assassination targets, such as Iron Hand or other non-Shinbakufu leaders, and they will appear in the courtyard with their guards down.

Once in the courtyard, you can assassinate them without needing to use stealth, making it an easy way to kill objective board targets without having to explore the entire map.

The Connoisseur, Endo Riku, from The Corrupt Daikan, Sato Katsubei from The Betrayers, and Iron Hand from the Iron Hand Guild can attend the ceremony. However, keep in mind that the enemies who appear will depend on who's available on your target board, and it's possible that only one may show up.

If you choose to invite friends, Sen no Rikyu will give you your quest rewards after the ceremony and also offer himself as a scout. Inviting friends is generally the better choice, as gaining a scout offers more utility and long-term benefits than simply having enemies gathered in one place for assassination.

If you choose to invite enemies instead, Sen no Rikyu will be distraught, and you will lose the opportunity to have him as a scout.
