Assassin's Creed Shadows (AC Shadows)

There are five legendary sumi-e in Assassin's Creed Shadows (AC Shadows). Read on for an interactive map of all legendary sumi-e and learn the locations of all legendary animals required to paint them as well as the rewards you get for painting all five.

Sakura Shike Deer is Found at the Sakura Meadow in Yamato

The Sakura Shike Deer is a legendary animal that can be found on the road that passes through the unmarked Sakura Meadow location in the Yamato province. It spawns in at Night during the Spring Season. The nearest fast travel point will be the Mountain Blossom Pagoda viewpoint to the northwest.
Once you pass the semi-collapsed torii gate leading to the Sakura Meadow, dismount and proceed on foot. As soon as the Observe prompt pops up, go prone and slowly make your way towards the Sakura Shike Deer. Upon reaching the correct distance, wait for your aiming reticle to form a white circle to trigger the sumi-e painting cutscene.
White Tanuki is Found Near the Shigaraki Hamlet in Omi

The White Tanuki is a legendary animal that can be found relaxing in a small clearing to the northeast of the Shigaraki Hamlet in Omi. It will spawn in during the Day in the Summer Season. The nearest fast travel points will either be the Mouth of Seta viewpoint in Ishiyamadera Temple (southeast of Otsu), the Seta Village Kakurega, or the Koga Kakurega.
Similar to other legendary animals, approach its clearing while prone (so that you don't startle it) and observe it until the white circle fills up and the painting cutscene triggers.
Silver Fox is Found at the Kamimisu Inari Shrine in Kii

The Silver Fox is one of the easiest legendary animals to find since all you'll need to do is unlock the Kamimisu Heights viewpoint in the province of Kii. Once it's Night time in the Autumn Season, fast travel to this viewpoint to see the Kamimimsu Inari Shrine (where the Silver Fox spawns) directly in front of you.
To be specific, the Silver Fox will be found near the cliff at the southern part of the shrine. Since this place is relatively open with little cover, approach slowly while prone to avoid startling the legendary animal. Observe it as you approach and a cutscene will trigger once you're close enough.
Red-Crowned Crane is Found at an Unmarked Island in Wakasa

The Red-Crowned Crane is a legendary animal found at an unmarked island to the southeast of the Amiko Estate in Lake Suigetsu, Wakasa. It will spawn during the Day in the Winter Season. The nearest fast travel point will either be the Outer Amiko Kakurega or the Tsuruga Tower viewpoint in the city of Tsuruga (Sotomo Gate sub-region of Wakasa).
Before reaching the island, dismount and head to the island on foot. Crouch low until you see the Red-Crowned Crane at the center of the ruined town. Once the Observe prompt pops up, go prone and start approaching it until the painting cutscene triggers.
Wise Monkeys are Found at the Sarumaru Shrine in Yamashiro

The 3 Wise Monkeys can be saved for last since they spawn regardless of the season. Once it's Night time, make your way over to the Sarumaru Shrine in Yamashiro to find them.
Since the shrine appears near the border of Yamashiro and Iga, the nearest fast travel points to it will be the Deserted Outpost viewpoint or the Uji Tawara Kakurega in Yamashiro, or the Otogi Pass Outpost in Iga.
Similar to all other legendary animals, simply head up the stairs once you reach Sarumaru Shrine, crouching all the way. At the top of the stairs, you'll see 3 monkeys next to a statue on a cliff. Approach them slowly while prone and observe them until a cutscene triggers.
How to Spawn the Legendary Animals
Make Sure You Have the Right Time and Season
| Can You Change the Time of Day? | How to Change Seasons |
Save for the Wise Monkeys, each legendary animal will only spawn during a specific time and season in the game. This means you'll have to wait close to 2~3 real life hours for each season to come and go, then wait an additional number of minutes for it to turn day or night.
Fast Travel to the Nearest Viewpoint or Kakurega to Refresh Spawns
If you decide to wait at the same area or near the same area as the legendary animals' spawn points, then there will be occasions where they won't spawn immediately.
To spawn them in after idling near their spawn point, you'll have to reload the area by fast travelling to the nearest Viewpoint or Kakurega, before making your way back to their spawn location.

You'll get a total of 5 Legendary Sumi-e wall decorations for your Hideout once you complete this hidden trophy. They can all be hung up in any of your buildings as decorations so long as the building has a Wall Station.

Painting all 5 legendary animals will net you the A Rare Occurrence trophy achievement for Assassin's Creed Shadows. This is one of the more difficult trophies to get because of the amount of time you'll need to spend waiting for each season to pass.
