What Does Gold Do

Gold is used to upgrade your weapons or armor for free in Assassin's Creed Shadows (AC Shadows). Read on to learn more about how to use gold as well as how to get gold, in-game.

Allows You to Upgrade Weapons on Armor for Free

Using Gold to Upgrade Items

Gold is a special material used to upgrade a weapon or armor piece without spending any crafting materials. They are best used at higher levels, especially if you want to upgrade any early game legendaries in your inventory.

You can start using Gold to upgrade your gear by unlocking the Blacksmith and building a Forge for him back in the Hideout.

How to Get Gold

Complete Quests with Gold Rewards

The Betrayers

Some of the side quests in Assassin's Creed Shadows will reward you with gold for completing them. One of the earliest ones you can complete will be Out to Pasture where you have to kill increasing amounts of bandits in the province of Izumi Settsu.

Later on, you can also complete The Betrayers side quest in Omi where you have to go after 7 targets scattered across the map. Completing it will reward you with another Gold piece you can use for upgrades.

Level Up Projects and Redeem Gold

Gold Reward from Projects

Another way of getting Gold will be by leveling up the in-game battle pass. At certain levels, the battle pass (project) rewards you with Gold. Simply farm Data Fragments by completing Anomalies (weekly challenges) in order to level up your battle pass and redeem its rewards.
