Take note that approaching Takahashi Goro and Takahashi Ichi-Hime triggers a choice event where you can either spare or kill them. However, the rewards will remain the same regardless of your choice.

How to Unlock The Twisted Tree
Find Ujimasa During Inside Help
The Twisted Tree quest board and its targets are unlocked by progressing the quest, Inside Help, until you meet Ujimasa. The quest itself is part of The Shinbakufu quest board and requires you to assassinate the Twisted Tree, which basically means wiping out the members of the Takahashi Clan.
What is The Twisted Tree?
Rogue Samurai Clan Terrorizing Kyoto
The Twisted Tree refers to the Takahashi Clan terrorizing Kyoto with its twisted code, stemming from Takahashi Inoshichi. Naoe is tasked to stop the threats that these rogue samurai pose by eliminating the Takahashi siblings and their father.
