Pre-Order the Game

Thrown to the Dogs is a special quest that is only accessible if you pre-ordered Assassin's Creed Shadows. You will then have to download the content separately for it to appear in-game.

Complete From Spark to Flame

Thrown to the Dogs will appear after completing the main quest, From Spark to Flame, and unlocking the Hideout. It will be added on the Objectives screen as part of the People of Settsu board. The quest will start at Osaka, Izumi Settsu.

Pet the Dog

Once you reach the starting point, you will have to find the dog within the investigation area. Take the northwest path of Tennoji Temple and follow it until you find a left turn. Pet the wounded dog there to officially start the quest.

Follow the Dog

The dog will run down the hill and you will have to follow it to a nearby farm. Halfway through the trip, a group of samurai will recognizing Ichiro's dog and attack you in an attempt to take the good boy away. Defeat them and continue following the dog west.

Talk to Takako

A woman will be standing at the entrance when you get there. Speaking to her will reveal that she is Ichiro's sister-in-law and was the reason his dog is covered in wounds, as her guards forcibly took the key to Ichiro's inheritance from the dog.

At the end of the convesation, a choice event will occur where you can either kill Takako for hurting Ichiro's dog or let her go. Your choice here will not affect the outcome of the quest and its rewards.

Kill Takako

Takako and two of her bodyguards will engage you in combat. Defeat all three of them to continue the quest.

Spare Takako

Takako and her two bodyguards will flee, leaving you and Ichiro's dog. The quest will still progress as normal.

Acquire the Key

There are three spots in the area where the key could possibly be. You can ignore the other two spots as the key will always be found under the house on the right. Walk around the house and prone so you can crawl through the tight space beneath it and reach the key.

Examine the Gravesite

You will notice that Ichiro's dog has run off and believe that he returned to the gravesite. Hop on your mount and return to where you found the dog. There, you will find a box that contains a letter, and a request, from Ichiro.

Completing Thrown to the Dogs will let you keep Tsuki-Maru as a pet in your Hideout!
